Jet stream: Multi-walled carbon nanotubes grown by catalytic chemical vapor deposition were carboxylated in a two-step oxidation process. An aqueous dispersion of the functionalized was dispensed using an inkjet printer to obtain electrically conductive patterns on paper and plastic surfaces (see picture). Sheet resistivities for deposited about 40 kΩ/□ could be achieved multiple prints.
Abstract Transparent and conductive patterns of carboxyl functionalized single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT‐COOHs) the composites those with poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene)‐poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT‐PSS) were deposited on various substrates by inkjet printing. For low print repetitions, PEDOT‐PSS/SWCNT‐COOH composite show enhanced conductance as compared to corresponding PEDOT‐PSS conductors. The results suggest a decreased percolation threshold for printed since establish electrical...
This work reports on the performance of a segmented polymer electrochromic display that was fabricated with solution-based processes in ambient atmosphere. An encapsulation process and combination structured wells for electrochrome electrolyte layers as well use preoxidized counter yields high contrasts fast switching speeds. Asymmetric driving–with respect to time–of is investigated first time degradation effects layer are analyzed addressed yield stable device exceeding 100 000 cycles. A...
Efficient alignment of aqueous carboxyl-functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes having remanent iron catalyst particles are carried out in relatively low external magnetic fields (B ≤ 1017 mT). The were grown by catalytic chemical vapor deposition and then functionalized a multistep oxidation process using nitric acid potassium permanganate. In the field-induced ordering, ferromagnetic property nanoparticles entrapped inner-tubular cavity is exploited. Considerable dichroism nanotube...
Abstract Nitric oxide (NO) gas sensing with carboxyl functionalized single‐ and multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs MWCNTs) is demonstrated in this work. Stable solutions of the carboxylated were made then drop‐cast on alumina substrates equipped gold electrodes also platinum heater elements. The obtained resistive nanotube sensors tested a 2‐point setup at different temperatures NO concentrations up to 100 ppm synthetic air argon buffer. When exposed NO, conductivity changed ∼40% for...
We present the fabrication and characterization of logic elements (transistors interconnects) built using our recently developed inkjet-printer-controlled deposition single-wall carbon nanotube network films. The method requires no preselection ``metallic'' or ``semiconducting'' nanotubes. By selecting number prints on a specified region, it is possible to have low-density, nonlinear, gate-voltage controllable transistors high-density, linear, high-current-throughput metallic interconnects...
The emerging interest toward applications of robust highly aligned carbon nanotube forests requires synthesis such films in a controlled manner. In this paper, the growth mechanism and influence parameters on structural properties multiwalled grown by catalytic chemical vapor deposition SiO2 surfaces are investigated. experimental studies complemented with computational finite element simulations temperature flow fields reactor to have better understanding tailored synthesis. Film thickness,...
Abstract Aqueous solutions of carboxyl functionalized single‐wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) films are deposited on silicon chips by the inkjet printing technique. By varying film thickness it is possible to obtain low‐ or high density networks SWCNTs, having either nonlinear linear current‐voltage characteristics, respectively. The electrical transport in low‐density gate‐controllable and utilized as chemical field‐effect transistor sensors; whereas high‐density SWCNT nearly Ohmic behaviour...
Abstract Thin films of functionalized carbon nanotubes were deposited on silicon chips by drop‐coating and inkjet printing. These sensors exposed to 50 ppm N 2 O, CO, H S O vapour in dry synthetic air. We have found relatively small changes the electrical resistance different test gases. However it is shown that chemical classification gases could still be achieved. To this end pattern recognition technique (Principal Component Analysis) was applied acquired power spectral density stationary...
Abstract A low‐noise electronic system is built and tested for fluctuation enhanced sensing. This latter a new technique based on the determination of power spectral density stationary resistance fluctuations semiconductor gas sensors. Its use advantageous improving chemical selectivity However, subsequent to an initial fast change sensor mean resistance, as exposed analyte gas, typical drift can be observed. effect hinders evolving stacionary conditions thus acquiring measurements when...
This work describes the manufacture and performance of an electrochromic display with solution-based processing. The presented process yields devices very high life times more than 100,000 cycles even when switched asymmetrically (with respect to time).
