Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a leading cause preventable blindness that disproportionately affects children born in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). In-person telemedical screening examinations can reduce this risk but are challenging to implement LMICs owing the multitude at-risk infants lack trained ophthalmologists.

Purpose: Prospective treatments for age-related macular degeneration and inherited retinal degenerations are commonly evaluated in the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) rat before translation into clinical application. Historically, thickness obtained through postmortem anatomic assessments has been a key outcome measure; however, utility this measurement is limited because it precludes ability to perform longitudinal studies. To overcome limitation, present study was designed provide baseline...

Developing robust artificial intelligence (AI) models for medical image analysis requires large quantities of diverse, well-chosen data that can prove challenging to collect because privacy concerns, disease rarity, or diagnostic label quality. Collecting image-based datasets retinopathy prematurity (ROP), a potentially blinding disease, suffers from these challenges. Progressively growing generative adversarial networks (PGANs) may help, they synthesize highly realistic images increase both...

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) telemedicine screening programs have been found to be effective, but they rely on widefield digital fundus imaging (WDFI) cameras, which are expensive, making them less accessible in low- middle-income countries. Cheaper, smartphone-based (SBFI) systems described, these a narrower field view (FOV) and not tested real-world, operational setting.

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a leading cause childhood blindness. Screening and treatment reduces this risk, but requires multiple examinations infants, most whom will not develop severe disease. We aimed build risk model combined with demographics reduce the number without missing cases TR-ROP.Infants undergoing routine...
