본 연구는 자살 고위험군인 알코올 사용 장애자의 자살생각에 영향을 주는 위험요인과 보호요인을 탐색하고자 하였다. 대구지역 11개 정신의료기관에 입원 중인 215명의 장애자를 대상으로 자료를 수집하여 기술통계, 상관관계분석 및 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하여 분석하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자살시도경험은 63.3%로 높은 자살위험성이 나타났다. 둘째, 인구사회학적 요인에 따른 자살생각을 비교해 결과, 여성일수록 자살생각이 더 것으로 셋째, 위험요인으로 자살시도경험, 우울, 음주문제 심각도, 불안이 미치는 요인으로 넷째, 보호요인으로 금주 자기효능감, 자아존중감, 삶의 만족도가 연구결과에 기반을 두어 자살예방 효과적인 개입방법에 대해 논의하고 이들에 대한 정신보건 사회복지의 실천방안을 제시하였다.
