ABSTRACT
This study investigated whether lactate-induced panic attacks in patients with disorder would activate atrial natriuretic hormone, which could explain the missing ACTH and cortisol response found this kind of experimentally induced panic.Sodium lactate placebo infusions were administered to 10 healthy comparison subjects, hormone responses two groups compared.During infusion both seven who had eight subjects did not responded increased plasma concentrations but more pronounced surges hormone.Because suppresses pituitary adrenal release, authors suggest that immediate rise explains reported lack pituitary-adrenocortical activation during panic.
