ABSTRACT
Diabetes mellitus (DM) and obesity are known to influence postoperative outcomes in surgical patients. This study aimed analyze the divergence between patients with without DM who underwent ventral hernia repair, while also assessing additional impact of on complications, hospitalization, costs. A prospective, non-interventional, observational was conducted over five years (2018-2022) at First Surgical Clinic Craiova Emergency Clinical Hospital. The included 216 patients, 42 (19.44%) having DM, half whom were obese. There no significant differences age or DM. However, diabetes more prevalent female mean duration hospitalization 10.7±8.6 days, observed obesity.
