ABSTRACT
Motion capture techniques are becoming a popular method for digitizing folk dances preservation and dissemination. Although technically the captured data can be of very high quality, dancing, in contrast to choreographed performances, allow stylistic variations improvisations that cannot easily by themselves. The majority motion analysis comparison algorithms explicitly based on quantitative metrics thus do not usually provide any insight style qualities performance. In this work, we introduce framework is Laban Movement Analysis (LMA); these particularly useful context teaching dances. We present prototype virtual reality simulator which users preview segments dance performed 3D avatar repeat them. users' performances subsequently compared template motions. system then provides intuitive feedback about their performance, four LMA components (Body, Effort, Shape, Space) both qualitative evaluation
