Autologous whole blood injections to patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria and positive autologous serum skin test: an efficacy evaluation

ABSTRACT
[Objective] To evaluate the efficacy of autologous whole blood injections in patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria and positive serum skin test (ASST).[[Methods]] After assessment clinical history,patients underwent prick (SPT) ASST.Then,100 ASST but negative SPT for common allergens were randomly classified into treatment group (n =60) control =40).Oral loratadine was given to all a gradual tapering least maintenance dose.Patients also injected once week 12 times.Patients evaluated by activity score (UAS) dermatology life quality index (DLQI) at baseline,the end 3rd 6th month after initial treatment.The total amount antihistamines required every calculated.The UAS,DLQI,accumulative administrated antihistamines,and diameter wheal/flush induced compared t before treatment,and rank sum between two groups.[Results] No significant difference observed UAS baseline (5.73 ± 0.51 vs.5.32 0.79,P> 0.05).The reached 1.57 1.42 0.69± 0.92 decrease rate 69% 81% group,and 3.65 1.53 2.65 1.61 35% 53% group,respectively month,and statistical both groups time points (all P < per averaged 8.63 pills 3.83 respectively 3 6 months treatment,significantly less than that (16.85 15.27 pills,respectively).[Conclusion]s The combination oral antihistamine can not only reduce disease improve patients' life,but urticaria.
