ABSTRACT
Objective To study the impact of high chromium yeast on type 2 diabetic mice. Methods A total 60 Balb/C mice were used in this study.Fifty injected with streptozotocin to induce diabetes, while ten without injection normal group. The divided into 5groups according their fasting blood sugar levels, including 3 groups receiving at low [250μg/ (kg· d)],medium [500 μg/ (kg,d)],and [1000 d)] doses,1 group metformin ( positive control),and 1 negative control). The or given through by gastric lavage daily for 15 weeks.Body mass and biochemical indexes (fasting glucose, glucose tolerance, etc) determined, and pathological examination pancreas was conducted. Results Compared control group, medium dose had significantly lower triglyceride P =0.043 ),low medium cholesterol =0.006,P =0.003 higher insulin levels (P =0.011,P =0.002),and reduced glycosylated hemoglobin =0.027).Pathological pancreatic islets revealed that did not develop infiltration inflammatory cells. Conclusions High may improve diabetes mellitus.Further studies are needed confirm conclusion an organic group. Key words: High yeast; Type mice; Pancreatic islet; Glucose tolerance factor
