Measuring the void fraction distribution is still one of greatest challenges in cavitation research. In this paper, a measurement technique for quantitative characterization cavitating pipe flow presented. While it almost impossible to visualize inside region with visible light, shown that x-ray computed tomography (CT) possible capture time-averaged quasi-steady flow. Different types have been investigated including cloud-like cavitation, bubble and film at very high rates. A specially...
Resonant periodic forcing is applied to catalytic CO oxidation on platinum (110) in the oscillatory regime. The external parameters are chosen such that unperturbed system spontaneously develops chemical turbulence. By periodically modulating partial pressure, changes spatiotemporal behaviour of can be induced: turbulent suppressed and frequency locked patterns with sub-harmonic entrainment develop. A novel gas-driving compressor has been implemented perform experimental work.
Examining or imaging of internal structures in flows with cavitation is still one the greatest challenges this field research. In a specially designed nozzle, strong region (CR) generated liquid core (LC) center, surrounded by vapour. While it almost not feasible to visualize inside CR visible light, shown that high-speed x-ray computed tomography possible dynamics unsteady cavitational flow CR. The observed phenomena start ring and small amounts vapour LC at / near entrance channel. Further...
In this article, we present a new imaging technique for multiple-segment microscopy at long working distances. many applications, images of small structures might have to be taken simultaneously widely separated points. At present, is problem because with single lens it possible either take an image one structure high resolution or the area that includes all onto CCD chip camera but strongly reduced structure. We used micro-lens array in combination aperture blank out space between...
Electric rail accelerators are being investigated for application in electric propulsion systems. Several applications require that the accelerator be capable of launching projectiles at velocities above 10 km/s. An experimental program was conducted to develop technology high velocity projectile launch. 6 mm bore, 3 m long were fabricated. Projectiles with a mass 0.2 g accelerated by plasmas, carrying currents up 150 kA. Experimental design and results described. Results indicate performed...
