Poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) vitrimers were prepared by reactive extrusion from industrial PBT thermoplastics using Zn(II)-catalyzed addition and transesterification chemistry. are characterized a high degree of crystallinity, melting temperature, crystallization rate, but right above their temperature mechanical resistance disappears they show tendency to drip. We compared −OH −COOH end-group additions on epoxies in the presence two different catalysts: 2-methylimidazole (2-MI) zinc...

The surface and edge emissions from dye-filled dye-topped polycarbonate polymethyl methacrylate luminescent solar concentrators were measured. We demonstrate that about 40-50% of the absorbed light energy (and 50-70% photons) is lost through top bottom surfaces filled waveguide. In most cases escape cone losses are greater at than surface.

We describe the synthesis of a dye based on perylene perinone and evaluate its potential as functional material for use in luminescent solar concentrator (LSC). The extends absorption wavelength LSCs using perylene-based Lumogen Red 305 by more than ~50 nm, translating into collection potentially 25% photons at reasonable fluorescent quantum yield photostability. When new is used two-waveguide LSC conjunction with 305, integrated edge emission total system may be increased 24% when compared to alone.

The development of well-adhering, easily producible photonic reflective coatings is still a challenge. Here, an easy-to-produce, industrial viable process reported that uses primer layer the so-called type II photoinitiator to obtain excellent adhesion between plastic substrate and one-dimensional (1D) liquid crystalline coatings. Furthermore, good alignment reactive cholesteric crystal mixture obtained using bar-coating process, without layers or surfactants. After photopolymerization,...

Microphase separation of bio-based soft blocks in a hard isosorbide polycarbonate enabled the preparation transparent engineering plastic with improved mechanical properties and processability at milder conditions. The ability to process these isosorbide-containing polycarbonates lower temperatures combination polymerization temperature due use activated bis(methyl salicyl) carbonate as source avoided undesired elimination β-hydrogens, which is commonly observed polymers. Vitrimers are a new class of heterogeneous polymers that combine the best features thermosets with those thermoplastics. The introduction cross-links strongly changes viscoelastic behavior vitrimer materials. However, characterization and understanding nanostructures interfaces in vitrimers resulting from dynamic cross-linking formation remain major challenge. Here, using modes atomic force microscopy (AFM), namely intermodulation AFM (ImAFM) AFM-based mechanical analysis (AFM-nDMA), local...

Abstract Bisphenol A polycarbonate (BPA‐PC) is an important engineering plastic with unique properties. However, it has some inherent flaws like chemical resistance toward greases and oils. Hence, to improve the effect of small amounts polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) functionalized allyl glycidyl epoxy (AGE) were evaluated. Low PBT AGE provided a transparent blend composition functionality. Detailed structural analysis by 1 H‐NMR showed addition reaction AGE‐epoxy acid end group PBT,...
