Abstract Summary: An electrospun nonwoven fabric of a cationic polysaccharide, chitosan, was successfully prepared. The present study focuses on the effect electrospinning solvent and chitosan concentration morphology resulting fabrics. solvents tested were dilute hydrochloric acid, acetic neat formic acid trifluoroacetic acid. As increased, deposition collector changed from spherical beads to interconnected fibrous networks. addition dichloromethane chitosan‐TFA solution improved...

In this study, the authors used 5-amino-2,4,6-triiodoisophthalic acid (ATIIPA) as a nucleophile to produce corresponding 1,3-diesters. Two types of 1,3-diesters, (i) diethyl 5-amino-2,4,6-triiodoisophthalate (DEtTIIP) and (ii) diacetoxyethyl (DAcOEtTIIP), were mostly prepared in quantitative yields. The 1,3-esters tested carbamoylation agent towards amino groups Ala esters via isocyanation 5-amino group. addition reaction DEtTIIP-NCO betaAla-OEt yielded DEtTIIP:CO-betaAla-OEt, 1,3-diethyl...
We describe the preparation of cellulose nanofibrous material directly from solution via electrospinning. The resulting nanofiber is composed pure cellulose. spinning procedure can be performed under ambient conditions at room temperature without post-spun treatment. By mixing drugs with pre-spun solution, followed by electrospinning, drug-loaded was prepared and releasing properties were examined respect to biomedical applications.
Large amounts of DNA-enriched materials, such as salmon milts and shellfish gonads, are discarded industrial waste. We have been able to convert the DNA a useful material by preparing novel films UV irradiation. When were irradiated with light, molecular weight was greatly increased. The reaction inhibited addition radical scavenger galvinoxyl suggesting that polymerization irradiation proceeded reaction. Although this UV-irradiated film water-insoluble resistant hydrolysis nuclease,...
DNA has unique chemical properties and is readily purified from salmon milts shellfish gonads. few commercial uses generally discarded as an industrial waste. Recently, we prepared water-insoluble nuclease-resistant DNA-films by UV irradiation. The removed DNA-intercalating compounds. Here, immobilized double-stranded onto porous glass beads irradiation DNA-immobilized bead columns. columns effectively accumulated more materials than the DNA-films. bound endocrine disruptors with a planar...
Abstract The O ‐phospho‐ L ‐serine [Ser(P)] containing peptides and proteins play an important role in controlling the morphology of biominerals. poly[Ser(P)] copoly[Ser(P) x Asp y ] affect calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ) polymorph. CaCO helical structures were obtained presence 75 25 ]. When ‐copolymer was used as additive, a clockwise P twisted spiral formed. On other hand, when using D ‐copolymer, counterclockwise M obtained. Optical micrographs chiral morphologies a) b) ‐copolymer. magnified image
Pheochromocytomas present with paroxysmal hypertension due to a sudden release of catecholamines stimulated by radiological contrast media, surgery, or anesthetic agents. This often complicates the maintenance patient hemodynamics during surgery. A 55-year-old man high fever was admitted hospital. Laboratory blood tests revealed elevated white cell and C-reactive protein levels. Transthoracic transesophageal echocardiography moderate aortic regurgitation, along valve vegetation. Magnetic...
Three adhesive polyoctapeptides (X/Y-Gly-Tyr-Ser-Ala-Gly-Tyr-Lys)n (X, Thr and Ala: Y, Thr:Ala = 3:2), which are the C-terminal octapeptide sequences shared by all those consensus motifs of a ribbed mussel Geukensia demissa protein (RMAP), have been synthesized polycondensation active esters. The correlation between wettability adhesion with alternative substitution hydrophobic Ala hydrophilic in synthetic RMAPs aqueous solution as films on high low surface free energy (sfe) surfaces has...
Abstract Foot tissue of the green mussel Perna viridis contains a variety byssal precursor proteins with unusual redox-active amino acid, Dopa (L-β-3,4-dihydroxyphenyl-α-alanine). Eight were detectable in acidic extracts foot by redox cycling assay nitroblue tetrazolium. In one these, however, P. protein-1 (Pvfp-1), activity was not due to Dopa, but another derivative. Based on specific colorimetric derivatization Arnow's reagent, ninhydrin and phenylisothiocyanate (Edman), mass...
Abstract The direct electrospinning of a non‐derivatized cellulose (Cs)–chitosan (Ch) composite nanofiber is described for the first time. Either two preparations from different sources, i.e., cotton (Cs C ) or bamboo B ), fabricated into electrospun non‐woven fabrics (ESNWs) with Ch using trifluoroacetic acid–acetic acid mixed solvent. total concentration Cs + in solvent fixed at 4.0 wt.‐% various Cs/Ch weight ratios 8:2, 5:5 (Figure shows /Ch‐ESNW), and 2:8, which are fine fibers...
The present article describes the synthesis of N-(Lys-Gly-Tyr-Gly)-chitosan using water-soluble active ester method, preparation N-(Lys-Gly-Tyr-Gly)-chitosan-gellan hybrid fibers, and reinforcement fibers by enzymatic cross-linking between N-grafted peptides chains chitosan. cationic polysaccharide chitosan was treated with Boc-Lys(Z)-Gly-Tyr(Bzl)-Gly (4-hydroxyphenyl)dimethylsulfonium methyl sulfate in DMF-0.15 M acetic acid to incorporate into side chain amino groups followed acidic...
Abstract Summary: True spherical capsules are formed by electrostatic polysaccharide interaction between chitosan and gellan gum via polyion complex (PIC) formation in aqueous solutions. Dropwise addition of a solution into the gave whose outside surface was inside (chitosan ‐gellan out capsule). Conversely, yields capsules. SEM observation revealed fibrous network spreading along capsule membrane capsule. The releasing properties were examined using low molecular weight substances high...
Different characteristic surface structures such as spherical capsules, regularly spaced droplets and fibers are formed by electrostatic polysaccharide interaction between chitosan poly(α,L-glutamic acid) via polyion complex (PIC) formation. Spherical droplet-like PIC capsules of varying diameters form in solutions. Some dyes adsorb on the while other benzoic acid derivatives penetrate into capsules. The fiber can be prepared reactive-spinning at solution interface, followed gravity removing...

Marine organisms react to various factors when building colonies for survival; however, severe accumulation of diverse on artificial structures located close water causes large industrial losses. Herein, we identify a concept in the development antifouling surfaces based understanding surface stiffness recognition procedure mussel adhesion at genetic level. It was found that soft combination decreased adhesive plaque size, force, and protein downregulation synergistically weakens wet...
