Biochar production via pyrolysis of various organic waste has potential to reduce dependence on conventional energy sources and mitigate global warming potential. Existing models for predicting biochar yield compositions are computationally-demanding, complex, have low accuracy extrapolative scenarios. Here, two data-driven machine learning based Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Network Artificial Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System developed. The predict a variety input feedstock process conditions....

Biodiesel has the potential to mitigate fossil fuel-related carbon emission and energy insecurity challenges. There are limited studies examining impacts of biodiesel production scales on environmental impacts, while such information will be valuable for guiding practical system design. This work applied approach life cycle assessment evaluate from rapeseed oil which accounts 80% European biofuel market. It was shown that centralized large-scale localized small-scale schemes have annual...

Anaerobic digestion (AD)-based biogas production mitigates the environmental footprint of organic wastes (e.g., food waste and sewage sludge) facilitates a circular economy. The work proposed an integrated system where thermal energy demand AD is supplied using air source heat pump (ASHP). compared to baseline system, by natural gas-based heating system. Several machine learning models are developed for predicting production, among which Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) showed superior...

It is shown by tracer experiments with DL-[2-3H,5-14C]- and DL-[(RS)-5-3H,5-14C]rnithine, that the metabolic conversion of ornithine into proline, in three plant species (Nicotiana tabacum, Datura stramonium, Lupinus angustifolius), takes place maintenance delta-hydrogen atoms but loss alpha-hydrogen atom. This indicates a route via alpha-keto-delta-aminovaleric acid (5-amino-2-oxopentanoic acid) disproves accepted glutamic gamma-semialdehyde (2-amino-5-oxopentanoic acid).

Quantifying the global warming potential of existing water infrastructure is an important step in realising industry's commitment to net-zero carbon. Whilst there has been improved understanding centralized urban infrastructure, rigorous analyses smaller-scale rural systems are rare. This work adopts a life cycle assessment ascertain drinking treatment works and wastewater associated with five Scottish islands: Arran, Iona, Jura, Barra, Vatersay. The systems, from source sink, along use...

The biogenetic hypothesis that the Lycopodium alkaloids are modified dimers of pelletierine (2, 3) was tested experimentally in Lycopodiumtristachyum, Pelletierine is indeed incorporated into lycopodine, but only one unit entered alkaloid, rather than two units, as predicted. thus requires modification.Δ 1 -Piperideine serves a specific precursor lycopodine. Two Δ -piperideine moieties such way identity C-2 and -6 each units maintained.

The biosynthesis of sedamine (IX) was studied in excised shoots Sedum acre L. Phenyl-alanine serves as the precursor C 6 – 2 side chain. piperidine nucleus is derived from lysine, which incorporated by way a nonsymmetrical intermediate. These findings are consistent with Robinson's classical biogenetic hypothesis. They incompatible polyacyl origin skeleton.
