This paper presents a multipurpose UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) for mountain rescue operations. The multi-rotors based flying platform and its embedded avionics are designed to meet environmental requirements mountainous terrain such as low temperatures, high altitude strong winds, assuring the capability of carrying different payloads (separately or together) as: avalanche beacon (ARTVA) with automatic signal recognition path following algorithms rapid location snow-covered body; camera...

Among numerous functions performed by the battery management system (BMS), online estimation of state health (SOH) is an essential and challenging task to be accomplished periodically. In electric vehicle (EV) applications, accurate SOH minimizes failure risk improves reliability predicting conditions. The challenge based on uncertain dynamic operating condition EVs complex nonlinear electrochemical characteristics exhibited lithium-ion battery. This paper presents artificial neural network...

The online estimation of battery state health (SOH) is crucial to ensure the reliability energy supply in electric and hybrid vehicles. An approach for enhancing generalization SOH using a parallel layer extreme learning machine (PL-ELM) algorithm analyzed this paper. deterministic stable PL-ELM model designed overcome drift problem that associated with some conventional algorithms; hence, extending application single over large set batteries same type. was trained selected features...

The centrifugal softening effect is an alleged and elusive reduction of the natural frequencies a rotating system with increasing speed which sometimes found in finite element rotordynamics. This may, some instances, be large enough to cause vanish, leading sort elastic instability. Some doubts can, however, cast on phenomenon itself mathematical models causing it appear. aim present work shed light discuss assumptions that are at basis three-dimensional FEM modeling One two degrees freedom...

The vibration control of rotors for gas or steam turbines is usually performed using passive dampers when hydrodynamic bearings are not used. In layouts where the rotating parts supported by rolling bearings, damping provided squeeze film dampers. Their nature and variability their performances with temperature frequency represent main disadvantages. Dampers magnetorheological electrorheological fluid allow solving only a part abovementioned drawbacks. Active magnetic (AMBs) promising since...

Eddy current dampers are promising for the passive and semiactive vibration control of mechanical structures. Among them, “motional” types based on Lorentz forces between a moving conductor stationary magnetic field. On contrary, “transformer” ones exploit electromagnetic varying reluctance circuit due to motion part damper. Considering simplicity layout, transformer configurations seem be very as alternative traditional rubber or squeeze film lateral rotating machines. The aim present paper...

The vibration control of rotors is often performed using elastomeric or fluid dampers together with rolling element hydrodynamic type bearings. Electromagnetic seem a valid alternative to conventional solutions and also active magnetic bearings (AMBs) because their simpler architecture, size and, if transformer type, for the absence power electronics, position sensors, any fast feedback loop. However, eddy current require constant voltage supply than can be provided by an embedded generator...

This paper deals with the structural design of sleeves for high-speed interior permanent magnet (IPM) synchronous machines. Wrapped IPM (WIPM) motors are a new player in field e-machines traction, where retaining sleeve is used to hold magnetic poles place against centrifugal forces, replacing role conventional iron bridges. The wrapping technique, originating from surface-mounted rotors, believed push speed limitations heights, as demanded by increasing requirements automotive industry. By...

This paper investigates a model-based procedure for rapid SOH estimation of 48V battery pack used in the automotive sector. The proposed approach is based on an artificial neural network, off-line, and does not need vehicle to be operational, thus reducing on-board computational cost hardware complexity. Moreover, algorithm discussed this can easily implemented prototype it allows estimating matter minutes with 96.3% accuracy when compared experimentally acquired data.
