Urinary incontinence (UI) is a major social problem for older adults and leads to decline in health-related quality of life (HRQoL), mental health, physical activity. This study assessed the prevalence symptoms UI among discharged from hospital Japan investigated association with activity, HRQoL, subjective well-being (SWB). By an international consultation, Incontinence Questionnaire Short Form (ICIQ-SF) that assesses severity, was developed. Self-administered questionnaires were used...

The plantar fascia and intrinsic foot muscles (IFM) modulate stiffness. However, it is unclear whether the corresponding ultrasonography findings reflect it. This study aimed to examine effect of IFM morphologies on force attenuation during landing reactivity when jumping in healthy adults (n = 21; age, 21–27 years). Thickness, cross-sectional area (CSA), hardness fascia, abductor hallucis (AbH), flexor brevis (FHB) were measured using ultrasonography. Single-leg drop repetitive rebound...

Background: Foot malalignment can augment the risk of lower-extremity injuries and lead to musculoskeletal disorders. This study aimed clarify contribution rearfoot alignment plantar pressure distribution spatiotemporal parameters during gait in healthy adolescent athletes. Methods: retrospective included 39 athletes who were divided into eversion control groups according a leg heel angle 7°. A total 78 legs analyzed (45 33 [women, 53.3%] 48.5%], respectively). Abstract Purpose To quantify the vertical translation between first metatarsal and medial cuneiform during stance phase of gait in young individuals with without hallux valgus. Design This cross-sectional observational study included 34 adults (male, n = 4; female, 30) who were divided into three groups according to valgus angle: control (< 20°, 13), mild (≥ 20° < 30°, 12), moderate 9). The mobility tarsometatarsal joint was evaluated using B-mode ultrasound synchronized a motion...

We determined how the in vivo mobility of first tarsometatarsal (TMT) joint can be quantified during gait. Twenty-five healthy participants (12 females) with no history foot disorders were included. Non-invasive ultrasound (US) a three-dimensional motion analysis (MA) system was used to evaluate kinematic characteristics TMT stance phase US probe positioned longitudinally above and adjusted its proximal dorsal prominence. Gait conducted by MA starting activation B-mode video at 80 frames per...

BACKGROUND: Local vibration (LV) used as part of the warm-up can stimulate a specific body and muscle group, potentially increasing flexibility performance. However, effect its combination with static stretching (SS) has not been thoroughly examined. OBJECTIVE: To elucidate acute effectiveness combining LV SS (V+S) on ROM ankle dorsiflexion, squat jump, counter-movement jump (CMJ) dynamic postural stability index (DPSI). METHODS: Fifteen healthy men who were regularly involved in...
