The quest for the single-molecular magnets (SMMs) based on mononuclear transition-metal complexes is focused low-coordinate species. A simple hydrothermal route was used to synthesize a nanowire network of Zn(OH)F at 120 °C, which transformed into porous ZnO with the same morphologies by calcination in air.
