Abstract Barite ore deposits are common in the southern region of state Nuevo León (Sierra Madre Oriental, NE Mexico), which has proven to have an important economic potential. This contribution provides new insights into ore‐forming conditions and geological controls that produced barite León. It is based on petrography, geochemical analyses (major trace‐elements, 87 Sr/ 86 Sr, δ 34 S, 18 O‐ isotopic data Sr. concentration) fluid inclusions microthermometry. The mineralization (veins, beds,...

Abstract We present the geochemical and isotopic characteristics of Pleistocene to Holocene olivine-bearing mafic rocks from Sierra de Chichinautzin (SCN) volcanic field, located in central part Mexican Volcanic Belt (MVB). Some have primary magmas, their MORB-normalized patterns are similar those displayed by extension-related rocks. The SCN magmas show a limited range 87Sr/86Sr (0.70348-0.70397; average(n = 7) 0.70370 ± 0.00019), 143Nd/144Nd (0.51279-0.51294; 6) 0.51288 0.00006).~New...

Abstract The origin of the Eastern Mexican Alkaline Province has been explained by landward arc migration and subsequent asthenospheric upwelling after slab roll-back Farallon Plate. In this work, we present new petrographic, mineral chemical, geochemical, geochronological data Sierra de San Carlos-Cruillas (SSCC), one most important complexes in province. This information, together with published data, helped us to reinterpret tectonic processes operating during generation province, as well...

Abstract We briefly describe the analytical methods commonly employed for determining rare-earth elements (REE) in geological materials. A compilation of data 24 International Geochemical Reference Materials (IGRM) from United States and Japan is used to evaluate statistically inter-laboratory performance various methods. The most frequently method groups measuring REE include mass spectrometry (MS), nuclear (NM), emission (ES), although separation (SM) such as high-performance liquid...

This paper presents statistical aspects related to the calibration process and a comparison of different regression approaches relevance almost all analytical techniques. The models for ordinary least-squares (OLS), weighted (WLS), maximum likelihood fitting (MLF) were evaluated and, as case study, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) curves major elements in geochemical reference materials used. results showed that WLS MLF statistically more consistent with usually applied OLS approach. use uncertainty...

In northeastern Mexico, volcanic rocks interbedded with Late Triassic–Jurassic siliciclastic and evaporitic strata have been linked to magmatic arcs developed in the Pangea western margin during its initial phase of fragmentation. This work provides new petrographic geochemical data for volcanism included El Alamar Minas Viejas formations outcropping Galeana region. Andesitic dykes sills (n= 10) redbeds show SiO2= 47.5–59.1% MgO= 1.2–4.2%, as well a affinity island arc magmas. represents...
