The suitable culture condition for specific microalgae species is vitally important their optimal growth and biochemical production. Therefore, this study emphasized on the isolation screening of indigenous with high performance from Setiu wetlands, Terengganu, Malaysia. Successfully isolated were identified based morphological molecular approaches using 18S rDNA technique. Microalgae screened to identify optical density Nile red fluorescence dye. Further, effect different salinity towards...

Removal of nitrogenous and phosphorus compounds from aquaculture wastewater by green microalgae (Tetraselmis sp.) was investigated using a novel method algal cell immobilization. Immobilized removed phosphorous efficiently wastewater. Results showed that Tetraselmis beads reduced significantly (p < 0.05) the total ammonia nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen soluble reactive concentration (0.08; 0.10 0.17 mg/L, respectively) initial 7.7, 3.1 2.0 mg/L respectively within 48 h compared to other...

Culturing microalgae using commercial media is expensive. Proliferation of aquaculture generating high amount wastewater containing nitrogen and phosphorus this could be a source nutrient for cultivating thereby reducing the production costs. This study compared growth, productivity, proximate composition Chaetoceros calcitrans, Nannochloris maculate, Tetraselmis chuii cultured in Conway medium. Results indicated that selected cultivated medium did not show any significant differences (p >...

Three isolated marine diatoms (Amphora, Navicula and Cymbella) grown on substrate were evaluated as feed supplement for Penaeus monodon postlarvae (PL) in hatchery system a period of 19 days without changing water. Specific growth rate (day−1) (0.27 ± 0.0) survival (%) (56.3 1.8) PLs significantly higher (P < 0.05) treatment tanks when compared with the control (0.20 0.0; 36.0 1.5, respectively). Shrimp reared substrate-based had levels protein, lipid (521.0 7.0; 304.0 2 g kg−1 dry weight,...

Identification and characterization of the microalgae is prerequisite before using them for any kind commercial use. So, study was designed to determine growth, pigments biochemical composition four different freshwater (Nephrocytium sp., Nannochloropsis Protococcus Pectinodesmus sp.). Growth performance evaluated by collecting data cell density optical density. Isolated were mass cultured in Bold Basal Media harvested at their early stationary phase. Result showed that, Nephrocytium sp....
