In this work, a-C:H:SiOx coatings with thicknesses of 300–1400 nm were synthesized by plasma assisted chemical vapor deposition on the surface titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4 V. The study attempts to clarify whether the short pulse electric strength (SPES) of a millimeter plane-parallel vacuum gap depends on properties electrode materials such as microhardness, work function, and crystallographic structure.
