Abstract Topologically protected surface states present rich physics and promising spintronic, optoelectronic, photonic applications that require a proper understanding of their ultrafast carrier dynamics. Here, we investigate these dynamics in topological insulators (TIs) the bismuth antimony chalcogenide family, where isolate response Dirac fermions at from bulk carriers by combining photoexcitation with below-bandgap terahertz (THz) photons TI samples varying Fermi level, including one...
The possibility to manage and control spectral spatial properties of optical-terahertz nonclassical fields generated in strongly nondegenerate parametric down-conversion is demonstrated experimentally using Mach-Zehnder nonlinear interferometer analyzed theoretically terms Schmidt modes. can be used for measuring the dispersion different materials terahertz frequency range. key point that information about these extracted from measurements optical channel due strong frequency-angular...
We study parametric down-conversion (PDC) of optical laser radiation in the strongly frequency non-degenerate regime which is promising for generation quantum-correlated pairs extremely different spectral ranges, and terahertz (THz) ones. The possibility to detect tenuous THz-frequency photon fluxes generated under low-gain spontaneous PDC demonstrated using a hot electron bolometer. Then experimental dependences THz power on detection angle pump intensity are analyzed.
Statistical distributions of the analog readings an antenna-coupled THz superconducting bolometer were measured and analyzed under a special type irradiation by low-energy fluxes photons with Poisson photon statistics controllable mean numbers. The generated via low-gain parametric down-conversion in pulse-pumped Mg:LiNbO3 crystal placed to cooled cryostat together NbN film. Results theoretical approximation experimental histograms reveal discrete nature detection bolometers open way for...
Frequency-angular distributions of optical signals generated via spontaneous parametric downconversion with the Stokes idler frequency shifts 0.2–5 THz are studied simultaneously same in anti-Stokes range while nonlinear Mg:LiNbO3 crystal is cooled from 300 K to 4.2 K. The temperature dependencies angular at fixed frequencies analyzed using a theoretical Klyshko–Kirchhoff approach account thermal field fluctuations and inherent absorption terahertz frequencies. Although all measurements...
We discuss experimental and theoretical studies of the generation third terahertz (THz) frequency harmonic in thin films Bi2Se3 Bi2-xSbxTe3-ySey (BSTS) topological insulators (TIs) THz radiation photoconductive antennas based on TI films. The results, supported by developed kinetic theory generation, show that conversion TIs is highly efficient because linear energy spectrum surface carriers fast dissipation. In particular, dependence field pump remains cubic up to fields 100 kV/cm. TI-based...
We have measured refractive indices and absorption coefficients for ${\mathrm{M}\mathrm{g}:\mathrm{L}\mathrm{i}\mathrm{N}\mathrm{b}\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ single crystals of different Mg contents (0--7 mol %) in the visible IR ranges up to phonon edge. The obtained dependencies optical characteristics on concentration an region 4--5 \ensuremath{\mu}m indicate four-step character structural changes under subsequent doping. Spectral reveal existence two polaron resonance bands, centered at 1.3 3.2...
In this study, the efficient generation of terahertz radiation by a dipole photoconductive antenna, based on thin island film topological insulator, was experimentally demonstrated. The performance Bi1.9Sb0.1Te2Se antenna shown to be no worse than those semiconductor which is an order magnitude thicker. current–voltage characteristics were studied for photo and dark currents in Bi1.9Sb0.1Te2Se. possible mechanisms generating waves analyzed comparing electrically biased unbiased insulator.
The terahertz wave generation by spiral photoconductive antennas fabricated on low-temperature In0.5Ga0.5As films and In0.5Ga0.5As/In0.5Al0.5As superlattices is studied the time-domain spectroscopy method. structures were obtained molecular beam epitaxy GaAs InP substrates with surface crystallographic orientations of (100) (111)A. pump-probe measurements in transmission geometry Hall effect are used to characterize properties LT-InGaAs LT-InGaAs/InAlAs structures. It found that radiation...

A comparative analysis of the dependences refractive index Mg:LiNbO3 single crystals on Mg concentration is performed in visible and IR transparency regions. The results measurements at wavelengths above 4 μm suggest four-step mechanism incorporation impurity to LiNbO3 crystal range molar concentrations from 0 7.1 %. resonances observed between 1 2 2.8 3.5 region are interpreted as contributions polaron states. It shown that resonance strongly enhanced with 5.1%.
The aim of the research was studying topological insulators Bi2-xSbxTe3-ySey thin films with different thickness and chemical composition. obtained time dependences terahertz radiation have indicated that generation THz waves more efficient in island film having a total about tens nanometers composition close to Ren’s curve, where volume contribution conductivity suppressed. We demonstrated an amplification power by applying external electric field insulator. This effect can be useful for...
An experimental scheme and data processing approaches are proposed for measuring by analog photo detectors the normalized second-order correlation function of biphoton field generated under spontaneous parametric down-conversion. Obtained results especially important quantum SPDC-based technologies in long-wave spectral ranges, where it is difficult to use single-photon detector at least one two channels. The methods discrimination detection samples developed eliminate negative influence...
Abstract We have measured the refractive indices of Mg:LiNbO 3 crystals before and after chemical reduction at different annealing temperatures by spontaneous parametric down‐conversion technique near‐forward Raman scattering polaritons in range 2–11 µm. The polaron‐induced contribution to dispersion real part dielectric function was revealed near phonon absorption edge. It found that this increases considerably with increase polaron concentration.
