We report on the first measurement of spin-correlation parameters in quasifree electron scattering from vector-polarized deuterium. Polarized electrons were injected into an storage ring at a beam energy 720~MeV. A Siberian snake was employed to preserve longitudinal polarization interaction point. Vector-polarized deuterium produced by atomic source and open-ended cylindrical cell, internal ring. The spin correlation parameter A^V_{ed} measured for reaction \pol{2H}(\pol{e},e'n)p...
Parity nonconservation in pp scattering has been studied by measuring the helicity dependence of cross section, ${A}_{z}$=(${\ensuremath{\sigma}}^{+}$-${\ensuremath{\sigma}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$)/(${\ensuremath{\sigma}}^{+}$+${\ensuremath{\sigma}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$), for longitudinally polarized incident protons 45 MeV. We found ${A}_{z}$=(-1.50\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.22)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}7}$ angular range 23\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}...
Parity nonconservation in $p\ensuremath{-}p$ scattering has been studied by comparing the cross sections ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}^{+}$, and ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ for longitudinally polarized 45-MeV protons of positive negative helicity. The longitudinal analyzing power is found to be ${A}_{z}=\ensuremath{-}(3.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.1)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}7}$. quoted uncertainty includes statistical error, uncertainties corrections...
We report an absolute measurement of the tensor analyzing powers T20 and T22 in elastic electron-deuteron scattering at a momentum transfer 1.6fm−1. The novel approach this is use polarized 2H target internal to electron storage ring, with situ polarization gas. Scattered electrons recoil deuterons were detected coincidence two large acceptance nonmagnetic detectors. techniques demonstrated have broad applicability further measurements spin-dependent scattering.Received 10 May...
Abstract In this work, more than a dozen solar energetic particle (SEP) events are identified where the source region is magnetically well connected to at least one spacecraft 1 au. The observed intensity–time profiles, for all available proton and electron energy channels, compared results computed using numerical one-dimensional SEP transport model in order derive parallel mean free paths (pMFPs) as function of (or rigidity) These inversion then theoretical estimates pMFP, turbulence...
Parity nonconservation has been studied in elastic $p\ensuremath{\alpha}$ scattering at 46 MeV with longitudinally polarized protons. The longitudinal analyzing power averaged over the range of laboratory angles roughly 30\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} to 60\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} is found be ${A}_{z}=(\ensuremath{-}3.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}7}$. This result and measurements other light nuclear systems are used...
We report on a measurement of the tensor analyzing power ${T}_{20}$ in elastic electron-deuteron scattering range four-momentum transfer from 1.8 to $3.2{\mathrm{fm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$. Electrons 704 MeV were scattered polarized deuterium internal target. The polarization nuclei was determined with an ion-extraction system, allowing absolute ${T}_{20}$. data are described well by nonrelativistic calculation that includes effects meson-exchange currents.
The two transverse polarization components ${P}_{{\mathrm{T}}_{1}}$ and ${P}_{{\mathrm{T}}_{2}}$ of the ${e}^{+}$ from decay polarized ${\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}$ have been measured as a function energy. Their energy averaged values are $⟨{P}_{{\mathrm{T}}_{1}}⟩=(6.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}7.7\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3.4)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$...
The transverse polarization of electrons emitted in the beta decay polarized 8Li nuclei has been measured. For time-reversal violating triple correlation parameter we find R=(0.9+/-2.2)x10(-3). This result is agreement with standard model and yields improved constraints on exotic tensor contributions to weak interaction. Combined other experimental results using a for coupling constants, new limit mass possible scalar leptoquark, m(LQ)>560 GeV/c(2) (90% C.L.), obtained.
Parity nonconservation in the pp interaction was studied by elastic scattering of 44.8 MeV longitudinally polarized protons. The chamber consisted a 100 bar ${\mathrm{H}}_{2}$ gas target, surrounded cylindrical ionization an axially symmetric arrangement, and Faraday cup. relative cross sections, ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}^{+}$ ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, for positive negative helicity incident beam, were measured integrating current from cup during 20 ms intervals, digitizing...
Cross-section and vector-analyzing-power data for three star configurations of the ${}^{2}\mathrm{H}(p\ensuremath{\rightarrow},pp)n$ breakup reaction at ${E}_{p}^{\mathrm{lab}}=65$ MeV were measured in a kinematically complete experiment. They are compared to rigorous Faddeev calculations involving five realistic charge-dependent nucleon-nucleon potentials: Argonne ${v}_{18},$ CD Bonn, Nijmegen 93, I, II. A general satisfactory agreement between theory experiment has been found. However,...
The transverse polarization in a plane perpendicular to the nuclear spin axis has been determined for electrons emitted \ensuremath{\beta} decay of polarized $^{8}\mathrm{Li}$. Such component signals violation time reversal symmetry. Using sample $^{8}\mathrm{Li}$ nuclei with vector \ensuremath{\sim}0.11 and polarimeter average analyzing power S=-0.10, asymmetry Mott scattering was measured an accuracy...
Angular distributions of the $^{8}\mathrm{Be}$ ions from ($^{9}\mathrm{Be}$, $^{8}\mathrm{Be}$) reactions on target nuclei $^{28}\mathrm{Si}$ and $^{40}\mathrm{Ca}$ have been measured at an energy 20 MeV (lab). The products spectroscopic factors $^{9}\mathrm{Be}$ several states residual $^{29}\mathrm{Si}$ $^{41}\mathrm{Ca}$ were extracterd a distorted-wave-Born-approximation analysis. Using levels, known ($d,p$) reactions, factor 0.42 \ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{} 0.04 for was found.NUCLEAR...
To aid fundamental studies on the polarization of electrons in beta decay, measurements were made spin dependence scattering 14 MeV from Pb as a function angle and foil thickness. The experiment use beam polarized strained GaAsP cathode. A simple theoretical model based plural explains observed analyzing power results extrapolated to infinitely thin targets are excellent agreement with theory if finite nuclear size is taken into account.
