The new generation of Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite (ICESat-2) which utilizes photon-counting laser detectors is scheduled for launch in 2017. This upcoming mission will provide data to assess changes ice sheet elevation mass, as well the time-varying volume sea ice. However, next-generation ICESat sensor also presents processing challenges due high number false returns present resultant point cloud that are mainly caused by sensitivity photon detector solar returns. In this...

Potential landslides in the mountainous areas of southwest China pose a serious threat to lives and property local residents. Synthetic aperture radar interferometry (InSAR) technology has advantages wide coverage, all weather applicability, low cost can quickly accurately identify large range active landslides, making it useful geodetic tool for early identification prevention landslides. This paper employed small baseline subset InSAR (SBAS−InSAR) ascending descending Sentinel−1 data from...

On 1 September 2022, a landslide in Hongya Village, Weiyuan Town, Huzhu Tu Autonomous County, Qinghai Province, caused significant casualties and economic losses. To mitigate such risks, InSAR technology is employed due to its wide coverage, all-weather operation, cost-effectiveness detecting landslides. In this study, focusing on the SBAS-InSAR Sentinel-1A satellite data from July 2021 September/October 2022 were used accurately identify areas of active landslides analyze deformation...

Recent light detection and ranging (lidar) systems using photon-counting technology are able to collect data with significantly higher efficiency compared the current commercially available linear-mode lidar systems. However, high quantum sensitivity of single-photon (SPL) results in noisy point clouds due influence solar noise dark count returns. Therefore, an effective removal algorithm is required interpret SPL data. The uneven distribution returns close signal two significant challenges...

Forest fires are one of the significant disturbances in forest ecosystems. It is essential to extract burned areas rapidly and accurately formulate restoration strategies plan plans. In this work, we constructed decision trees used a combination differential normalized burn ratio (dNBR) index OTSU threshold method heavily mildly areas. The applicability was evaluated with three Muli County, Sichuan, China, concluded that extraction accuracy could reach 97.69% 96.37% for small area fires,...

Single photon lidar (SPL) systems have great potential to be an effective tool for mapping due their high data collection efficiency. However, the large number of false returns in SPL point clouds represents a huge challenge extraction weak signal targets with low reflectivity or small cross sections. Numerous filtering methods been proposed that attempt effectively remove these noise points from final cloud model. similar characteristics returns, and thus can incorrectly eliminated as...

Pulsed Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) intensity has commonly been used as a measure of relative reflectance materials to aid in both point classification and object identification. However, LiDAR systems use single light wavelength, the had little value for advanced material classification. With advent multispectral systems, it may be possible multiple spectral bands assist automated target recognition. Towards this end, we present comparison between images passive from hyperspectral...

The large amount of noise returns in single photon Lidar (SPL) point clouds represent a significant challenge for the utilization these new generation laser scanning systems. Numerous filtering methods have been proposed that attempt to effectively remove points from final cloud model. However, weak signal similar characteristics as returns, and thus can be incorrectly eliminated with during process. Herein, novel voxel-spherical adaptive ellipsoid searching (VS-AES) method is proposed, by...

In terms of Fourier optics, a single-pass tiled-grating compressor based on in-pair compensation is studied and the amplitude expression output pulse from in far-field obtained, which disclose that effect group delay, front tilting residual chirping pulse-width far field. Numerical simulation shows field broadened with increasing spectral width. For typical compressor, tolerance each error obtained allowed width when all errors are considered.
