As aging progresses, clinical characteristics of elderly patients in the emergency department (ED) vary by age. We aimed to study differences among ED age group. For 2 years, aged 65 and older were enrolled classified into three groups: youngest-old, ages 74 years; middle-old, 75 84 oldest-old, ≥85 years. Participants' sex, reason for visit, transfer from another hospital, results treatment, type admission, admission length stay recorded.During period, a total 64,287 visited ED; 11,236...

The recent surge of interest and research activity in Si-based lasers underscores the potential benefits that full capability photonics could bring to Si world. We highlight some advances lasing based on emission from rare earth (RE) elements contained GaN heteroepitaxially grown Si. This approach has led first demonstration visible discuss current understanding RE sites GaN, intimate relationship between materials growth, optical properties resulting laser performance. eventual success this...

There is inconclusive evidence regarding the effectiveness of extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients. We aimed to evaluate association between ECPR and neurologic recovery in OHCA patients using time-dependent propensity score matching analysis.Using a nationwide registry, adult medical who underwent CPR at emergency department 2013 2020 were included. The primary outcome was good neurological discharge. Time-dependent used...

Composite electrodes consisting of Mn-Co oxide and high electrical conductive carbon nanofibers(vapor grown nanofiber, VGCF)(CoMnO2/VGCF) were prepared by thermally decomposing manganese cobalt nitrates directly onto the pore a porous nickel foam substrate as current collector to form oxides, their supercapacitive properties investigated using cyclic voltammetry in 1M KOH aqueous solution. The CoMnO2/VGCF exhibited specific capacitance value 630 F/g at 5 mV/s excellent retention 95% after 104 cycles.

Abstract Background Both climate change and intentional injuries (suicide attempts violence) are recognized as crucial factors that affect human health. Previous studies revealed the association between ambient temperatures deaths due to but mostly about consequences of severe events. Our study aimed examine suicide violence incidence including mild moderate cases with future projections, using each injury’s burden scenarios. Methods We collected nationally representative (8,512 cases)...

Abstract Background The importance of assessing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) risk in cancer patients is increasing as incidence rises aging populations. Objective This study aimed to investigate the association between newly diagnosed and OHCA using a metropolitan cohort from South Korea. Methods A population-based retrospective was conducted, linking nationwide registry with National Health Information Database. included adults aged 40 years or older, residing Seoul 2015 2018, no...

Background Biomarkers associated with the occurrence of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) are not currently utilized in clinical practice. We aimed to identify novel protein biomarkers using proteomic profiling and evaluate their predictive power alongside traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Methods A total 42 SCA patients medical causes, aged ≤ 65 years whose initial rhythm was shockable, age- sex-matched controls were analyzed. The serum samples obtained after emergency department visits...

Early hospital transport may benefit out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients with shockable rhythms who are refractory to defibrillation, particularly in settings limited advanced on-scene interventions. However, its impact emergency medical service (EMS) systems life support (ACLS) capabilities remain unclear. This study aimed assess the association between intra-arrest and survival outcomes OHCA initial remained despite first defibrillation attempt. Using a nationwide registry from...
