Abstract Purpose The aim of this study was to quantify the prophylactic effect high-dose gentamicin and clindamycin antibiotic-loaded bone cement (ALBC) during revision total hip (rTHA) or knee (rTKA) arthroplasty for aseptic reasons. hypothesis that raw surgical site infection (SSI) rate is lower when particular used in comparison with loaded standard-dose rTHA rTKA Methods This retrospective included 290 consecutive patients undergoing rTKA. Two cohorts were defined: first (control group)...

We report case 64-year-old man who presented to emergency room for lesion expected have occurred as result an ingrown toenail. Hand-held ultrasound (HHUS) is gaining popularity among clinicians. Although its use for procedural guidance could have several advantages in hand surgery, other surgeons may wonder about added benefits. This cadaveric study aimed to examine the hypothesis of increased accuracy wireless HHUS-guided injections versus that blind into flexor sheath. Our series included 20 fresh hands with 80 fingers randomly assigned 2 groups. In group A, 10 were receive a landmark injection and then received...

Background Symptomatic trapeziometacarpal osteoarthrosis can be treated with an ultrasound-guided injection in the early stages. This cadaveric study aimed to assess hypothesis suggesting enhanced accuracy and reliability of hand-held ultrasound (HHUS) injections compared blind into joint (TMC). Materials method Our series included 20 fresh hands, a total TMC randomly assigned two groups. In group A, 10 received blinded injection, B, HHUS. Methylene blue was injected, anatomical dissection...

We report a case of malignant transformation phalangeal enchondroma into grade II chondrosarcoma requiring two successive transcarpal amputations owing to recurrence. Soft tissue defects were repaired using single-stage reconstruction with posterior interosseous artery flap. The 2-year follow-up assessment was satisfactory and no recurrence observed.
