PKA-activation mechanism revised Many hormone receptors stimulate production of cyclic AMP (adenosine monophosphate), which activates PKA (protein kinase A). The textbook view suggests that activation releases the catalytic subunit enzyme from its complex with regulatory subunit. Smith et al. closely monitored in cultured human cells and found dissociation holoenzyme was not necessary for activation. kinase, binds anchoring proteins localize it cell, appears to be restricted acting within...

The magnetic moments and isotope shifts of the neutron-deficient francium isotopes (202-205)Fr were measured at ISOLDE-CERN with use collinear resonance ionization spectroscopy. A production-to-detection efficiency 1% was for (202)Fr. background from nonresonant collisional maintained below one ion in 10(5) beam particles. Through a comparison charge radii predictions spherical droplet model, it is concluded that ground-state wave function remains down to (205)Fr, departure observed (203)Fr (N=116).

Summary Forest soils play a pivotal role as global carbon (C) sinks, where the dynamics of soil organic matter (SOM) are significantly influenced by ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi. While correlations between ECM fungal community composition and C storage have been documented, underlying mechanisms behind this remain unclear.
