On 15 December 2024, a severe storm in the Kerch Strait led to catastrophic incidents involving two Russian oil tankers, Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239. The broke apart, spilling approximately 4,900 tonnes of mazut into Black Sea, while Volgoneft-239, damaged aground, leaked an additional 2,400 tonnes. To assess mitigate environmental impact, simulations were initiated immediately using Medslik-II spill model. These utilized analysis forecast data from Copernicus Marine Service (Black Sea...

WITOIL (Where Is The Oil http://www.witoil.com), has been developed to maintain emergency management in case of an oil spill accident. Currently more and initiatives are integrating traditional modeling systems into Digital Twins (DT’s) this context it was done the same for simulations. usage DT enables advanced environmental response, since they provide close real-time monitoring, simulation, analysis, offering tools predict manage complex scenarios effectively. is containerized...

Accurate oil spill predictions are crucial for mitigating environmental and socioeconomic impacts. Numerical models, like MEDSLIK-II (De Dominicis et al., 2013), simulate advection, dispersion, transformation, but their performance depends heavily on the configuration of physical parameters, often requiring labor-intensive manual tuning based expert judgment. To address this limitation, we integrate with a Bayesian Optimization (BO) framework to systematically identify optimal parameter...

Oil spill incidents can have a significative negative impact on coastal and marine ecosystems as well human activities. Despite increased maritime safety, the European Maritime Safety Agency's Cleanseanet program detected substantial increase in spills within Mediterranean basin. The accurate prediction of transport transformation oil slick is key aspect for assessing impacts areas. In this context, numerical modeling plays crucial role understanding unseen filling observational gaps. Such...
