Abstract This study investigates the behaviour of geochronometers zircon, monazite, rutile and titanite in polyphase lower crustal rocks Kalak Nappe Complex, northern Norway. A pressure–temperature–time–deformation path is constructed by combining microstructural observations with P–T conditions derived from phase equilibrium modelling U–Pb dating. The following tectonometamorphic evolution deduced: subvertical S1 fabric formed at ~730–775 °C ~6.3–9.8 kbar, above wet solidus sillimanite...

Abstract. This study investigates the tectonostratigraphy and metamorphic tectonic evolution of Caledonian Reisa Nappe Complex (RNC; from bottom to top: Vaddas, Kåfjord, Nordmannvik nappes) in northern Troms, Norway. Structural data, phase equilibrium modelling, U-Pb zircon titanite geochronology are used constrain timing pressure–temperature (P–T) conditions deformation metamorphism during nappe stacking that facilitated crustal thickening continental collision. Five samples taken different...

Abstract The Leech River Shear Zone (LRSZ) on southern Vancouver Island separates the metasedimentary schists of Complex (LRC) from accreted oceanic plateau Siletz‐Crescent terrane. juxtaposition these rock units suggests a possible origin as subduction plate boundary but tectonic context LRSZ has yet to be fully established. We present field, microstructural, petrological, and geochronological observations that constrain structural metamorphic history LRSZ. mylonite zone straddles...

Lawsonite eclogites represent cold subduction in the rock record, and new localities provide rare natural field laboratories to investigate deep deformation processes. We present a lawsonite eclogite locality near Faro, Yukon Territory, Canada, first reported of Yukon-Tanana Terrane. The discovery indicates that mid- Late Permian Terrane subducted material an oceanic zone, contrast most previous models. define pressure-temperature-deformation (P-T-d) pathway for using combination...
