Cold metal transfer process is applied to join titanium and Q235 steel with copper filler metal. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) analysis, micro-hardness tests, tensile strength test were performed investigate the joining mechanism of joints. The results show that stacking order two base metals affected modes strength. For top bottom Ti-TA2 lapped joint, there was no distinct interface reaction layer between weld metal; dispersed TiFe2 intermetalics...
In this study, a cold metal transfer method with low heat input and no welding splash is used to weld the pure titanium TA2 hot dipped galvanized mild Q235 steel H08Mn2SiA wire. The effect of zinc coating on microstructure properties titanium/steel joints was investigated. results show that an interface reaction layer Ti–Fe intermetallics produced between base metal, even when 2 mm offset distance torch towards set. Zinc cannot improve mechanical Ti/galvanized joint. It attributed...
