The initial results of the SINODAR-ONE randomized clinical trial reported that patients with T1-2 breast cancer and one to two macrometastatic sentinel lymph nodes treated breast-conserving surgery, node biopsy only, adjuvant therapy did not present worse 3-year survival, regional recurrence, or distant recurrence rates compared those axillary dissection. To extend recommendation dissection omission even in mastectomy, a sub-analysis is presented here.Patients no more than metastatic...

BackgroundCapsular contracture (CC) is the most common complication following Immediate Breast Reconstruction (IBR) with breast implants. Different implant surfaces were developed aiming to reduce incidence of CC. We evaluated and degree CC after Direct-to-Implant (DTI) IBR insertion textured (TE) or polyurethane (PU) covered implants.MethodsA retrospective review consecutive patients treated at our Institution mastectomy one-stage reconstruction between 2013 2018, without post radiation...

An open-label prospective, randomized, parallel multicentre study was undertaken to compare the efficacy and tolerability of 1.5 g/day intravenous imipenem/cilastatin with 3 meropenem in treatment intra-abdominal infections. A total 287 patients were enrolled; 201 patients, divided between 2 groups, evaluable. Clinical outcome, bacteriological untoward microbiological effects, clinical laboratory adverse experiences evaluated. 98% receiving therapy cured, 96% showing eradication infection....

PurposeWe report long-term outcomes of phase 2 trial on patients with invasive breast cancer treated accelerated partial-breast irradiation (APBI) using tomotherapy after conservative surgery. Methods and MaterialsFrom December 2010 to 2018, we 338 women APBI-tomotherapy: 38.5 Gy in 10 once-daily fractions. Patients selected were age ≥50 years old, ≤3 cm size unifocal tumor at least mm clear margins. Disease analyzed by clinicopathologic characteristics, molecular phenotypes, American Society...

Abstract Introduction Targeted axillary dissection (TAD) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is a new staging technique that consists of surgical removal biopsy-proven, positive, clipped nodes (CLN) in addition to the sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB), and provides for more conservative surgery1. A question was recently raised whether clipping positive later assessment indeed leads management change2. The purpose our study report feasibility TAD evaluate false negative rate (FNR), impact on...

We investigated the pharmacokinetics of meropenem after first and tenth im administration in patients with respiratory tract infections. Ten (mean age 63.8±5.2 years) received 500 mg tds for at least ten doses, plasma urine antibiotic concentrations were determined by microbiological assay. After injection a mean peak concentration 7.93±1.29 mg/L was observed 1 h. Trough levels 8 h (0.29±0.16 mg/L) detectable five treated patients. The terminal half-life 1.08±0.2 an area under curve (AUC)...

Long-term tumor control, toxicity and cosmetic outcomes for accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) delivered with Helical Tomotherapy have not been studied before now. We report our phase II trial results on 338 women invasive disease treated APBI-Tomotherapy at one institution after conservative surgery (BCS). From December 2010 to 2018, we followed early cancer 38.5Gy in 10 once-daily fractions. Patients selected were: age ≥ 50 years old, unifocal up 3 cm size least 2 mm of clear...
