The environmental issues caused by fossil fuels have driven the increase in demand for biofuels’ production, such as biodiesel. This work analyzes an interesterification reaction, which involves substitution of alcohol with ester, obtaining a glycerol-free process. Under supercritical conditions, reaction dispenses use catalysts, simplifying product purification In this study, using corn oil and methyl acetate was investigated biodiesel production. conducted continuous reactor following...
Abstract The aim of the present study was to use supercritical technology recover linseed oil (Linum usitatissimum L.) using carbon dioxide (alone or modified with ethanol as solvent) determine influence technique on chemical composition obtained, model kinetic curves extraction, and estimate manufacturing cost process. experiments were conducted at 323 K, pressure 25 MPa, constant solvent flow 1.7 × 10−5 kg/s, extraction time 5 h. highest yield obtained addition cosolvent (28.8%). SFE...
A Fischer recirculating still has been used to measure isobaric vapor−liquid equilibrium data for pentane + dodecane and heptane at 70 100 kPa 40, 70, kPa, respectively. The concentrations of the vapor liquid mixtures have determined with aid an oscillating tube densimeter. excess volume behavior also found on basis density−composition calibration curves. Vapor pressure pure components as function temperature measured indicated reliability experimental procedure. Thermodynamic consistency...
The objective of this work was to study the essential oil extraction process Cymbopogon schoenanthus Spreg with pressured CO2, and compare results a conventional process. experiment conducted at 15°C, 66.7 bar medium flow rate 1.23 g CO2/min, in fixed bed extractor dynamic method adopted for solubility calculation. solvent realized ethanol an incubator, followed by vacuum filtration evaporation. composition analyzed gas chromatography connected mass spectrometer. CO2 showed yield 2.78%, 1.48...
The oil reservoirs are underground and have the gas contained in porous rock at high temperatures pressures. Only 5–20% of is withdrawn primary production. Further recovery can be achieved by injecting carbon dioxide (CO2) that displaces dissolves part remaining oil; this process called enhanced recovery. Although characterization fractionation petroleum well-known studied, each sample represents a unique multicomponent system; therefore, an individual study required. Real samples condensate...
Liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) data for the system biodiesel of chicken fat + methanol glycerol was measured at 25 and 45 °C atmospheric pressure. The zone miscibility found by means binodal curve, using density turbidity in each point its construction. Tie lines were defined through calibration curves glycerin phases. distribution selectivity coefficients determined. validation proved Othmer-Tobias Hand correlations, with close to unity. LLE correlated UNIQUAC model temperatures °C, global...
Growing interest in the study of production conditions presalt led to need complex systems at high pressures and temperatures, such as up 70 MPa 393 K. The aim this work is obtain vapor–liquid equilibrium data temperatures for hydrocarbon with carbon dioxide (CO2). To these data, an experimental setup procedure using a synthetic cell were designed. Experimental binary system CO2 + cyclohexene (C6H10) squalane (C30H62) over range temperature between 303 398 K ternary C6H10 C30H62 various...
Energy crisis and emission problems have led to investigations on alternative fuels. In this respect, partial substitution of diesel with alcohol biodiesel has proved be successful. The present study focuses the use as an additive stabilize alcohols in blends proposes new fuel formulations based thermodynamic studies liquid–liquid equilibrium (LLE) data from ternary systems containing methanol/ethanol/1-butanol + at atmospheric pressure 300.15 K. authenticity phase was validated by...
To increase oil sorption, polyurethane foams were modified with MoS2, ZnO grafting and/or hexadecanoic acid coating. The characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy + Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy and Contact Angle techniques. Three sorption tests performed. In 100% water, the ZnO-PC modification showed a reduction of 35.7% in seawater when compared to Un-PC. oil, there was 29-fold (more than 2803%) S46 lubricant Un-PC performance ZnO-PC. on multicomponent systems, lowest 0.01 ±...
Oiticica is a feedstock with energetic potential for biofuel due to the presence of high oil content in its almond (54-60%). In this work, biodiesel from oiticica was produced by methyl transesterification using alkaline catalysts. Fatty acid ester (FAME) obtained at 32 °C, 1.5% KOH and 2h reaction time higher (92%) than that NaOH (85%). At temperature 50 no difference between catalysts found, both resulting conversion 91%. The best index 1% (0.40 mg g-1 °C) value viscosity (9.61 mm2 s-1)...
The production of natural gas (NG) is increasing considerably, contributing to the energetic matrix world. New reserves NG have been discovered and explored regularly. Despite various applications gas, which allow its use as a raw material for synthesis (syngas), instance, there are remote wells that demand treatment before use. In this work, simplified approach remove heavy species (C5+) presented. specification treated based on methane index fuel in drive engines compressors boilers. Thus,...
Increasing concern about climate change and the need to reduce dependence on fossil fuels have driven search for more sustainable energy alternatives. One way emissions is by adding oxygenated compounds such as biodiesel alcohols diesel fuel. However, this can lead phase separation between serious consequences engine performance. In context, present study aimed evaluate effect of ethanol content miscibility components in mixtures containing + through liquid-liquid equilibrium. The results...
Although economically vital, whether in cold Scandinavian or warm Caribbean waters, offshore oil exploration accounts for spills at sea. One of the mechanisms used recovering spilled consists using porous materials with high sorption capacity cleanup process. Post-consumer polyurethane foams (PC-PUFs) are highly polymers typically disposed by consumers Brazilian cities. In this work, PC-PUFs obtained from discarded mattresses were modified superficially to promote hydrophobization and...
