ABSTRACT Background and Aims One strategy to minimize the risk of posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) is avoid an Epstein–Barr Virus (EBV) mismatch through kidney paired donation. We aimed estimate incidence PTLD in EBV‐negative transplant recipients with EBV‐positive donors (D+/R−) evaluate excess death following occurrence PTLD. Methods included adult patients OPTN database who underwent transplants between 2012 2022. Cox regression analysis was employed impact EBV...
Background Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir has been shown to reduce the risk of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)–related complications in patients at high for severe COVID-19. However, clinical experience nirmatrelvir/ritonavir transplant recipient population is scattered due complex management drug–drug interactions with calcineurin inhibitors. We describe The Ottawa Hospital kidney program. Methods Patients who received between April and June 2022 were included followed up 30 days after...
We report a case of adenovirus nephritis (ADVN) in kidney transplant recipient (KTR) occurring within 8 days post-transplantation. The patient, 35-year-old male, displayed systemic symptoms, high-grade fever, and acute injury (AKI) without signs hemorrhagic cystitis (HC). Extensive diagnostic workup revealed widespread necrotizing granulomatous inflammation the allograft, leading to identification (ADV) via histopathology polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing. source ADV transmission...
Background Crocus sativus is popular herb used to improve and treat the memory, cognition related functions of brain thereby impose significant role in maintain health. The medicinal important part stigma flower which rich apocarotenoids crocin, picrocrocin, safranal many more volatile compounds. pharmacological actions such as antioxidant, anti-amyloidogenic, anti-depressant, anti depressant, cancer, inflammatory etc. properties are attributed due presence caratenoids. However poor...

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a rarely encountered complication in patients following kidney transplantation and associated with significant morbidity mortality. The diagnosis often difficult due to the lack of classic symptoms laboratory findings. Herein, we report case azathioprine-induced AP leading acute injury transplant recipient, whom have diagnostic difficulty. Patient spontaneously recovered after drug withdrawal. We propose step-wise algorithm for evaluation recipients.
sintomatic and asymptomatic) .Renal biopsy was considered adequate if it had 5 glomeruli. After the procedure, all patient remained at rest for least 6-8 hs in supine position.Blood pressure monitored frequently, urine checked to evaluate presence of gross haematuria. All them were hospitalized 24 hours hematocrit ultrasound performed.Data expressed as mean (standard deviation), median (interquartile range) or proportions, appropriate. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test used verify normality study...
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about the realization that true progress of a nation can be determined from strength its health care system. country India, and battle it is waging with SARS CoV-2, become striking example how lack preparedness bring to dire circumstances. first case in India was officially reported on January 30, 2020. Since then, epidemic spread so rapidly by end March 2020, nationwide lockdown imposed bid control rising swell cases. Even tireless efforts law enforcement...
Conventionally, major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-encoded human leukocyte antigens (HLAs) of a donor are considered as the principal targets recipient's immune system in renal transplantation (RT), and clinical significance anti-HLA allo-antibodies (Abs) is well established. In contrast, importance non-HLA immunity RT being increasingly recognized. Majority non-MHC-encoded proteins on vascular endothelial cells exist cryptic autoantigens. The synergistic triad tissue injury, anti-HLA,...
