Abstract We report complete coding sequences of Orthohantavirus dobravaense (Dobrava virus) Igneada strains and phylogenetic characterization all available sequences. Our analyses suggested separation host-dependent lineages, followed by geographic clustering. Surveillance orthohantaviruses using genomes would be useful for assessing public health threats from Dobrava virus.
Acomys cilicicus is endemic to Turkey and known from a very restricted area. The exact distribution of the species was not up now IUCN status Data Deficient (DD). To determine area species, 39 localities within historical were surveyed by using 3243 Sherman traps between 2013 2016. Turkish spiny mouse samples obtained 14 these current determined. We found that has two isolated populations in Silifke Erdemli with total about 104.5 km2, extending sea level 510 m a.s.l. Population trend...
Abstract Spiny mice of the Acomys cahirinus group display a complex geographical structure in Eastern Mediterranean area, as shown by previous genetic and chromosomal studies. To better elucidate evolutionary relationships between insular populations from Crete Cyprus continental North Africa Cilicia Turkey, morphometric variations were investigated, based on mitochondrial D-loop sequences, size shape first upper molar. The Cypriot Cilician show idiosyncratic divergence molar shape, while...
The mammalian gut is colonized by microorganisms that affect development, immune system, energy metabolism, and reproduction. majority of studies focused on laboratory or domestic animals in artificial setups, leaving the research wild species underrepresented. Anatolian Blind Molerat (hereafter ABMR), $\textit{Nannospalax xanthodon}$, a subterranean rodent receives much attention due to its unique traits, such as tolerance extreme hypoxic stress, resistance cancer, longer lifespan compared...
Abstract Orthohantavirus tulaense (TULV) is a member of the orthohantavirus genus and distributed in Europe Asia. To shed light on TULV epidemiology evolution, we trapped wild rodents from eastern Turkiye found 15 positive rodents. Sequencing phylogenetic analyses confirmed presence diverse strains. Global characterization suggested 5 distinct lineages. phylogeographic reconstruction estimated different rooting times for each three segments, potential ancestor location Eastern Black Sea...
The radiation of cichlid species in the East African Great Lakes is remarkable and rapid. population genetics two deep-water Cyphotilapia along east coast Lake Tanganyika from Burundi to southern Tanzania was determined using ddRAD-seq. A combination ADMIXTURE, PCA, genome polarization, 2D site frequency spectrum analyses confirmed presence species, C. frontosa north gibberosa south, as documented other studies. We also found evidence a potential hybrid zone connecting at sharp genetic cline...
Abstract Large-bodied mole rats (Spalax) are a specious genus among obligate subterranean rodents, with seven currently recognised species, ranging from the Carpathians to North Caucasus and further into Caspian basin. Several conflicting hypotheses were proposed explain phylogenetic relationship these taxa, mostly based on subjective interpretation of importance certain morphological characters in species delineation. We sequenced one mitochondrial (cyt b) nuclear (IRBP) gene six Spalax...
Acomys cilicicus is a narrow range, endemic spiny mouse species of Turkey. Some issues have been uncertain about its distribution and status. In the study, we, therefore, aimed to identify species' spatial understand impact environmental factors on species. We used maximum entropy modeling fulfill these purposes. The results showed that restricted in coastal part study area, human population one severe threats for distribution, fluctuations climatic conditions may adversely affect...
Molecular studies provide very useful information on predicting the evolutionary history of species, species ecology and for describing new species. Dryomys laniger is an alpine that endemic to Anatolia, inhabiting high rocky areas. Its known distribution consists fragmented isolated populations. In order determine a phylogenetic tree was created with one mtDNA two nuDNA. Thirty-one samples were collected from 6 populations distributed in Anatolia. Among these populations, Subaşı plateau...
The dwarf lizard, Parvilacerta parva, is a characteristic member of the steppe biome in Irano - Anatolian biological hotspot. While this lizard has been included local faunistic surveys and its morphological variation was addressed, no targeted study performed on ecology distribution species. Here we investigate range dynamics during recent glacial interglacial periods. We looked at effects climatic oscillations species Present, Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), Interglacial (LIG) periods using...
Abstract Acomys cilicicus is a rodent species endemic to Turkey, with highly restricted distribution. However, there have been doubts regarding its taxonomic validity as distinct species. Previous studies investigating the phylogeny of A. unable provide conclusive data address this issue, primarily due their reliance on two specimens from single locality. In study, we expanded sample size include 16 5 different localities and conducted sequencing mitochondrial DNA gene region (cyt-b)....
Abstract Orthohantaviruses are transmitted to humans mostly through small mammals that the reservoirs of these viruses. Because orthohantaviruses show high genetic variability geographic regions, characterization viruses with whole genome sequencing is great importance clarify molecular epidemiology and track their changes in reservoir hosts. We have previously reported presence Dobrava-Belgrade orthohantavirus (DOBV) Igneada region, Kirklareli province by showing antibodies against virus...
