As an in-plane charge current flows in a heavy metal film with spin-orbit coupling, it produces torque on and thereby switches the magnetization neighbouring ferromagnetic film. Such (SOT)-induced switching has been studied extensively recent years shown higher efficiency than using conventional spin-transfer torque. Here we report SOT-assisted metal/magnetic insulator systems. The experiments used Pt/BaFe12O19 bilayer where BaFe12O19 layer exhibits perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. is...

The detonation propagating through the annular channel of an optically accessible nonpremixed rotating engine (RDE) is visualized in this work using OH* chemiluminescence imaging. fuel and air are injected from separate streams partially premix front wave. images allow observation size shape structure, trailing edge oblique shock wave, possible presence deflagration between fill region expansion containing detonated products. useful for evaluating effects mass flow rate, equivalence ratio,...

Single-laser-shot temperature measurements at a data rate of 1 kHz employing femtosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (fs-CARS) spectroscopy N(2) are demonstrated. The performed using chirped-probe pulse to map the time-dependent frequency-spread dephasing coherence, which is created by approximately 80-fs pump and Stokes beams, into spectrum signal pulse. Temperature determined from spectral shape fs-CARS for probe delays 2 ps with respect pump-Stokes excitation. accuracy precision...

Two-photon, planar laser-induced fluorescence (TP-PLIF) of carbon monoxide was performed in steady and driven flames using femtosecond (fs) laser pulses at 1 kHz. Excitation radiation 230.1 nm (full-width half-maximum bandwidth 270 cm-1) used to pump many rovibrational two-photon transitions the B1∑+←X1∑+ system. Visible range 362-516 captured an image intensifier high-speed camera. The signal dependence on excitation energy wavelength is presented. Photolytic interferences from ultraviolet...

A comparison is made between two ultrashort-pulse coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) thermometry techniques-hybrid femtosecond/picosecond (fs/ps) CARS and chirped-probe-pulse (CPP) fs-CARS-that have become standards for high-repetition-rate in the combustion diagnostics community. These variants of fs-CARS differ only characteristics ps-duration probe pulse; hybrid fs/ps a spectrally narrow, time-asymmetric pulse used, whereas highly chirped, broad used CPP fs-CARS. Femtosecond laser electronic excitation tagging (FLEET) velocimetry is an important diagnostic technique for seedless measurements particularly in supersonic and hypersonic flows. Typical FLEET feature a single line camera system to achieve one-component along line, although some multiple-spot multiple-component configurations have been demonstrated. In this work, tomographic imaging used track the three-dimensional location of many spots. A quadscope combine four unique views onto...

Light-induced generation of pure spin currents in a Pt(2.5 nm)/BaFe12O19(1.2 μm)/sapphire(0.5 mm) structure is reported. The BaFe12O19 film had strong in-plane uniaxial anisotropy and was therefore self-biased. Upon exposure to light, temperature difference (ΔT) established across the thickness that gave rise current Pt via Seebeck effect. Via inverse Hall effect, produced an electric voltage one lateral dimensions. varied with time same manner as ΔT flipped its sign when magnetization reversed.

The effects of broadband excitation employing femtosecond laser pulses on the coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) spectroscopy N2 are investigated. We have previously demonstrated that dephasing rate coherence, established by impulsive using pump and Stokes beams, can be used for measuring gas-phase temperature in chemically reacting flows. objective current work is to investigate polarization beating between CO measured time-resolved CARS N2.

The experiments make use a microwave to excite spin wave in quasi-one-dimensional magnonic crystal. When power input (Pin) is low, output signal has power-frequency spectrum consists single peak. Pin increased certain level, new side modes are generated through modulational instability (MI), resulting comb-like frequency spectrum. With...
