Abstract The authors develop a small area estimation method using nested error linear regression model and survey weights. In particular, they propose pseudo‐empirical best unbiased prediction (pseudo‐EBLUP) estimator to estimate means. This borrows strength across areas through the makes use of weights preserve design consistency as sample size increases. proposed also has nice self‐benchmarking property. obtain an approximation mean squared (MSE) nearly MSE. Finally, compare with EBLUP...
Many debris flows have occurred in the areas surrounding epicenter of Wenchuan earthquake. Susceptibility assessment this area is especially important for disaster prevention and mitigation. This paper studies one worst hit areas, Subao river valley, susceptibility performed based on field surveys remote sensing interpretation. By investigating formation conditions following factors are selected: mixture density landslides rock avalanches, distance to seismogenic fault, stratum lithology,...
Abstract The authors use a hierarchical Bayes approach to area level unmatched sampling and Unking models for small estimation. Empirically they compare inferences under with those obtained the customary matched linking models. They apply proposed method Canadian census undercoverage estimation, developing full using Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods. show that can provide efficient model‐based estimates. posterior predictive distributions assess model fit.
The Jiuzhaigou earthquake on 8 August 2017, led to a significant increase in the amount of loose, solid material, which has been rich source debris-flow activity. In this paper, comprehensive prevention and control system consisting stabilization, blocking, deposition structures is proposed based topographic features gullies Valley. Taking Xiajijie Lake gully as case study, history formation disasters were analysed. This study proposes main principles well implementation measures, lateral...
Experimental analyses and prototype observations of a debris flow drainage channel with energy dissipation structures were performed in this study. On the basis 160 groups experiments, simple empirical relationship was proposed to determine roughness coefficient an structure section channel. The experimental results suggest that comprehensive gradually increases area section. Meanwhile, approaches smooth as decreases less than 10% area. Moreover, velocity measured validated effectiveness...
