To evaluate the effects of anti-inflammatory hydroxystilbene, resveratrol, on Propionibacterium acnes growth. Three different strains P. were tested against resveratrol at concentrations between 0 and 200 mg/L. Piceatannol was included as a second hydroxystilbene to compare with erythromycin benzoyl peroxide used positive controls. After 24 h treatment average 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) 73 mg/L 100% (IC100) 187 for three tested. The IC50 IC100 piceatannol 123 234 mg/L, respectively....
Systemic growth hormone injections increased spine and femur length in a mouse model of OI. Femur BMC, cross-sectional area, BMD were increased. Smaller gains produced vertebral BMC area. Biomechanical testing showed improvements to structural material properties the midshaft, supporting expanded therapy children with OI.Osteoblasts heterozygous Cola2oim mutant mice produce one-half normal amounts alpha2 strand type I procollagen. The experience mild osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) phenotype,...
A human growth hormone transgene was bred into mice of the Cola2oim (oim) lineage. Caudal (tail) vertebrae from male and female at early skeletal maturity midlife were evaluated for physical biomechanical properties. To test whether constant low-level expression within marrow could improve structural or material properties caudal in oim mice.A spontaneous genetic defect a type I procollagen gene created mouse model osteogenesis imperfecta. Bones heterozygous are biomechanically inferior to...
