We grow epitaxial graphene monolayers on Ru(0001) that cover uniformly the substrate over lateral distances larger than several microns. The weakly coupled monolayer is periodically rippled and it shows charge inhomogeneities in distribution. Real space measurements by scanning tunneling spectroscopy reveal existence of electron pockets at higher parts ripples, as predicted a simple theoretical model. also visualize geometric electronic structure edges nanoislands.

Magnetic dc susceptibility $(\ensuremath{\chi})$ and electron-spin resonance (ESR) measurements in the paramagnetic regime, are presented. We found a Curie-Weiss behavior for $\ensuremath{\chi}(\mathrm{T})$ with ferromagnetic $\ensuremath{\Theta}=446(5) \mathrm{K}$ ${\ensuremath{\mu}}_{\mathrm{eff}}=4.72(9){\ensuremath{\mu}}_{B}/\mathrm{f}.\mathrm{u}.,$ this being lower than that expected either ${\mathrm{Fe}}^{3+}(5.9{\ensuremath{\mu}}_{B})$ or...

The design of ultratough hydrogels has recently emerged as a topic great interest in the scientific community due to their ability mimic features biological tissues. An outstanding strategy for preparing these materials relies on reversible and dynamic cross-links within hydrogel matrix. In this work, inspired by composition ascidians' tunic, stretchable supramolecular combining poly(vinyl alcohol), green tea-derived gallic acid, rigid tannic acid-coated cellulose nanocrystals (TA@CNC) were...

We report an EPR study at X- and Q-bands of polycrystalline single crystal samples the mixed copper(II) complex with L-glutamic acid (glu) 1,10-phenantroline (phen), [Cu(glu)(phen)(H(2)O)](+) NO(3)(-)·2(H(2)O). The sample spectrum Q-band showed well resolved g(∥ )and g(⊥) features partially solved hyperfine structure g(∥), typical for weakly exchange coupled systems. This is confirmed from angular variation spectra which shows certain magnetic field orientations a characteristic weak...

Summary Hybrid nanoparticles containing proteins have a technological interest because they attempt to achieve improved properties with respect the single materials by chemically linking both components. In this article, batch emulsion polymerization of methyl methacrylate in presence varied concentration casein and tert‐butyl hydroperoxide as initiator was investigated. A detailed characterization molecular microstructure morphology hybrid allowed identification two competitive particle...

The first stages of the oxidation process titanium thin films deposited on top Cu(100) substrates have been studied by means Auger electron spectroscopy. Using principal component analysis we found different regimes for Ti depending their thickness. While a film thickness up to 1 ML only one oxide phase (${\mathrm{TiO}}_{2}$) is present, in thicker new (${\mathrm{TiO}}_{\mathrm{x}}$; x2) detected. As grows, passivating effect stops oxygen adsorption. Finally, thickest (>7 ML) interface turns...

We report powder and single crystal EPR measurements of [Cu(tda)(phen)]2·H2tda (tda = thiodiacetate, phen phenanthroline) at 9.7 GHz. This compound consists centrosymmetric copper(II) ion dimers, weakly ferromagnetically exchange-coupled (J +3.2 cm−1), in which the dimeric units are linked by hydrophobic chemical paths involving molecules. revealed that triplet spectra collapsed interdimeric exchange interactions mediated path.
