We propose and demonstrate a flexible filter-free method to generate ultrawideband monocycle doublet pulses utilizing cross-gain modulation in semiconductor optical amplifier. The counter-propagation scheme UWB-over-fiber technology is implemented by exploiting dispersion-induced pulse broadening effect single-mode fiber.
