Abstract Precise knowledge of the geometry faults and folds at depth is important for tectonics, economic geology, seismic hazards. However, kinematics aspects controlling coevolution are difficult to constrain without 3D data. We perform a series forward geometric simulations using pseudo‐3D trishear fault‐propagation folding algorithm investigate effects six fault kinematic parameters on fold morphology. conclude that ramp angle shortening/fault length ratio primary factors whole 3D‐fold...

The northern Sichuan Basin, spreading in the section of Longmenshan Fault Fold Belt, is characterized by dramatic fluctuations surface landforms, development abdominal faults, and low-quality seismic data, resulting difficulties clarifying relevant structures. key target formation, Mid-Permian Qixia Fm, deeply buried with thin reservoirs high heterogeneity, which brings great challenges to prediction. Under such circumstances, researches have been conducted jointly terms data acquisition,...
On 25 November 2016 (14:24:30 UTC), an Mw6.6 earthquake occurred in Aketao county of Xinjiang. We derived the coseismic deformation field from ESA's Sentinel-1B images and inverted fault geometry slip distribution by using a homogenous half-space elastic model Steepest Decent Method (SDM) program. The shows that rupture plane is about 68 km length 40 width has average strike 105.2°SE dip 76.0°S. amount ∼0.16 m maximum 0.59 m. estimated seismic moment 1.31 × 1019 N·m corresponding magnitude...
Abstract The Ning'er Mw 6.1 earthquake on 3 June 2007 occurred in the southwest to Sichuan‐Yunnan rhombic block with complicated seismic structures. focal depth determined by U.S. Geological Survey is only 5 km, but field investigation did not find obvious surface ruptures epicenter area. magnitude obtained inverting broadband waveforms 6.4 that much larger than calculated Survey, indicating this event complicated. Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar used study fault geometry, coseismic...
The Southern Highland Fold and Thrust Belt (SHFTB), the boundary of Australian plate New Guinea block, significantly contributes to convergent deformation along boundary. However, due lack observation data, detailed slip pattern SHFTB orogenic mechanism beneath Highlands remains controversial. On 25 February 2018, MW7.5 Papua (PNG) earthquake struck southeastern segment SHFTB. rupture characteristics this event is significant for further clarifying inter-seismic Here, coseismic field was...

Abstract Widespread NW–SE‐trending faults and Cenozoic basins in the coastal area of Fujian Province demonstrate unique tectonic deformations from influence modern arc‐trench system on adjacent continent. Field‐based structural analyses Zhangzhou region identify two‐stage deformation Cenozoic. The early stage was dominated by normal faulting mafic intrusions. configuration differentiated as a graben estuary linear ridges western mountains, representing outer arc extension caused orthogonal...
