We describe here a rare case of association imperforate anus with transverse colon atresia in male neonate. Preoperative X-ray studies demonstrated: a) distended loop the epigastrium fluid levels on plain A/P upright radiography, b) absence pelvic intestinal gas invertogram 16 hours later. A three-stage operative approach was undertaken comprising resection atretic and colostomy, posterior sagittal anorectoplasty few months later, finally closure colostomy. The postoperative outcome good....

Background: It has been shown in several investigations that smooth muscle cells (SMCs) are present on the patent processus vaginalis (PV) peritonei cases of inguinal hernia (IH) preventing its obliteration. The PV fails to obliterate undescended testis (UT) as well, but without causing herniation. Materials and Methods: We conducted a case control study order compare status SMCs UT IH correlate it with clinical outcome Specimens were harvested from sacs 26 boys aged 2 days 16 years (mean...

Introduction: Femoral hernia (FH) is extremely rare in children, comprising 0.1%–0.9% of all inguinal region repairs, as reported the prelaparoscopic era.1,2 In centers where (IH) treated laparoscopically, FH was diagnosed 1.1%–2.8%,1,2 suggesting a higher actual prevalence. Many cases are perioperatively or discovered only when an IH recurrence occurs.3 We propose laparoscopic approach to close femoral ring, according McVay's principles.4 Materials and Methods: A 4-year-old boy referred our...
