Abstract A mathematical model was developed and tested to simulate the generation transfer of heat in solid substrate fermentation (SSF). The experimental studies were realized a 1‐L static bioreactor packed with cassava wet meal inoculated Aspergillus niger . simplified pseudohomogeneous monodimensional dynamic used for energy balance. Kinetic equations taking into account biomass formation (logistic), sugar consumption (with maintenance), carbon dioxide used. Model verification achieved by...

Abstract Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and electron microscopy (SEM) were used to determine morphological, structural surface changes (biodegradation) on thermo‐oxidized (80°C, 15 days) low‐density polyethylene (TO‐LDPE) incubated with Aspergillus niger Penicillium pinophilum fungi, without ethanol as cosubstrate for 31 months. TO‐LDPE mineralization by fungi was also evaluated. Significantly morphological...

Abstract BACKGROUND: Heat removal is one of the major constraints in large‐scale solid‐state fermentation (SSF) processes. The effect internal air circulation by forced convection on heat and water transfer has not been studied SSF tray bioreactors. Formulation a mathematical model for requires good estimation mass coefficients. RESULTS: A stainless steel bioreactor (80.6 L capacity) was used. Aspergillus niger C28B25 cultivated under conditions an inert support. Temperature, moisture...

Jasmonic acid (JA) and its derivatives called jasmonates (JAs) are lipid-derived signalling molecules that produced by plants certain fungi. Beside this function, JAs have a great variety of applications in flavours fragrances production. In addition, they may high potential agriculture. protect against infections. Although there is much information on the biosynthesis function JA concerning plants, knowledge these aspects still scarce for Taking into account practical importance JAs,...

The combined effect of carbon source and nitrogen loading rate (NLR) on denitrification sludge granular settleability in upflow anaerobic blanket (UASB) bench-scale reactors was studied. Acetate, lactate glucose were used as sources for denitrification. Three NLR evaluated: 500, 1000 2000 mg NO3−-N/ld. It found that NO3−-N consumption efficiency 99% all the cases. Denitrification efficiencies high (85-96%) substrates tested, but specific denitrifying rates a better representation process....

A multidisciplinary three-step methodology is being developed to diagnose the extent and type of petroleum pollutants resulting technological approaches restore a contaminated site. At first, site was delimitated its zones identified by using remote sensors. An area 307 ha considered major importance national Mexican oil company, Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), identified. 75% total analyzed soil samples ranged between 10-50,000 ppm hydrocarbons (TPH) 25% 50,000 434,000 ppm. Ten bacterial strains were isolated by enrichment culture, using as carbon sources either aliphatics or an aromatic-polar mixture. Oxygen uptake rate was used a criterion to determine culture transfer timing at each stage. Biodegradation of (10,000 mg L(-1)) and mixture (5000 L(-1), 2:1) evaluated for the defined made up with standardized strains. Degradation total hydrocarbons also determined mixed culture. Five able degrade more than 50% aliphatic fraction. The most extensive...
