Abstract Data on thermal water sources with outflow temperature of 30 °C and above were analyzed from the N-ern parts Bosnia Herzegovina, Serbia Croatia, S-ern Hungary, W-ern Romania, NE-ern Slovenia, altogether an area 99,347 km 2 . The overview identified 771 geothermal sources; only 7 springs. average well depth is about 1.2 km. About 13% wells are younger than 10 years, additional 17% below years; while 26% older 50 years. Average 54 being highest, 170 °C, in Croatia. Most produced basin...

Global changes are increasingly pushing for more sustainable resources, such as geothermal energy. The thermal waters of the karst system in Budapest (Hungary) have so far been used mainly balneological purposes. It is thus expected that near future they will intensely be purposes well. To this end, a comprehensive research project has launched by Geological Survey Supervisory Authority Regulatory Affairs to gain better understanding and assess impact projects via numerical simulations. One...

Abstract The psychological and intellectual sequelae of childhood leukemia its treatment were examined in 48 children with acute long remission. Verbal performance IQ values determined addition to full scale IQ. Performance was worse than the verbal who less six years old at time diagnosis. Cranial irradiation even repeated doses 2,400 rads had no effect on these children's intellects. Most patients, however, showed severe emotional problems when constructing their “world” from given...

The distribution of the high concentrations arsenic (As) and fluoride (F-) in groundwater on a Pan-European scale could be explained by geological European context (lithology structural faults). To test this hypothesis, seventeen countries eighteen survey organizations (GSOs) have participated dataset. methodology has used HydroGeoToxicity (HGT) Baseline Concentration (BLC) index. results prove that most waters considered study are good conditions for drinking water consumption, terms As...

Nagy felbontású rétegtani tagolás és ezt megalapozó mélyfúrás geofizikai adatrendszer hiányában a Duna–Tisza-köze területére vonatkozó vízföldtani modellezések kényszerűen egyszerű földtani alapra épülnek. A tanulmányban 593 közelmúltban digitalizált karotázs korrelációjára alapozva mutatjuk be térség negyedidőszaki rétegsorát. Az üledékföldtani egységek korát terület magfúrásainak mágneses szuszceptibilitás adatokra épülő, publikált beosztására adtuk meg.A rétegsor alapvető tagolására...

In worst-case leakage scenarios of CO2 geological storage, or brine may contaminate shallower drinking water aquifers. This work applies an advanced geochemical modeling methodology to predict and understand the effects aforementioned contamination scenarios. Several possibilities, such as equilibrium batch, kinetic 1D reactive transport simulations, were tested. These have all been implemented in widely applied PHREEQC code. The production figures animations has automated by R programming....

Potential disaster scenarios of CO2 geological storage (CGS) are escape and brine displacement to protected freshwater aquifers via unexpected pathways. Present study evaluates the geochemical aspects such events in vicinity potential CGS sites Hungary. This is primarily possible by reactive transport modelling using open source PHREEQC. Solution mineral compositions, electrical conductivity porosity simulated time space. Main results predict an increase ion-concentrations freshwater; some...
