We present the first observation of self-amplified spontaneous emission (SASE) in a free-electron laser (FEL) vacuum ultraviolet regime at 109 nm wavelength (11 eV). The observed gain (approximately 3000) and radiation characteristics, such as dependency on bunch charge, angular distribution, spectral width, intensity fluctuations, are all consistent with models for SASE FELs.
Electrical quality assurance (ELQA) of the superconducting electrical circuits in LHC requires an advanced test equipment accompanied by dedicated software, data storage system, and analysis toolset. In 2007, measurement system was built to carry out Test Procedure 4 (TP4), namely qualification whole terms instrumentation routing, insulation quality, resistance, impedance circuit components. This has become main ELQA tool at LHC. During testing campaign from 2007 2009, a set new...
The electrical quality assurance (ELQA) of the superconducting circuits CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) during its second Long Shutdown (LS2) requires execution vast measurement campaigns. Each 1658 as well instrumentation each 1746 individual cryo-assemblies housing magnets, bus-bars and other components circuits, has to undergo a series tests. At beginning shutdown tests are performed before after warm-up from cryogenic temperatures. same repeated at end shutdown, this time cool-down....
This article presents the design and construction of a new version an automated, highly efficient system for validation connections between superconducting magnets in Large Hadron Collider at CERN, Genève, Switzerland. The is based on existing comprehensive electrical measurements its integral part. The dedicated to perform multi channel resistance be used during machine assembly replacement.
The VME based tester for front-end electronics of the TRT (Transition Radiation Tracker) detector ATLAS-LHC experiment at CERN, Geneva, is described. read-out 424576 proportional tubes grouped on many thousands cards requires stringent quality control after assembly and during installation. provides all required data, pulses, timing power supplies tested cards. essential part its software that allows device handling as well facilitates functional statistical tests. prototype, present design...
