Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) coatings were synthesized on as-cast, T4 (solution treatment), and T6 (aging treatment) AZ91 magnesium alloys using a hydrothermal method. XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) analyses showed that the large β-phases in as-cast initially promoted LDH growth via galvanic corrosion, but later compromised coating integrity. In contrast, alloys, with refined microstructures, formed uniform compact coatings. Corrosion resistance was enhanced as...
Titanium ores are plentiful in the earth crust, and corresponding metal content ranks as fourth among structural metals; application of titanium is restricted for its high cost spite excellent mechanical properties, corrosion, oxidation resistance. was first produced with Hunter process yet this has been practically replaced by Kroll which contains carbochlorination rutile ilmenite to obtain TiCl4, followed metallothermic reduction magnesium. The complex procedure, huge investment,...
AbstractAbstractAn accelerated aging response, detected in AA 6061 based metal matrix composites, age hardening curves was examined via microstructural observations. The influence of vacancies on the precipitation processes alloy and its composites also considered. In after peak aging, a higher density dislocations intermediate β′ precipitates observed. It is thought that dislocation assisted nucleation reduce apparent activation energy for precipitation, compared with alloy, leads to an...
The structural, elastic, mechanical and thermodynamic properties of Ti-Al intermetallics (TAICs) including Ti3Al, TiAl, TiAl2, Ti2Al5 TiAl3 have been systematically investigated through first-principles calculation. structural stability can be derived from elastic constants. According to Pugh's index, TAICs are kinds brittle materials the brittleness these phases rank as follows: > TiAl2 TiAl Ti3Al. Moreover, anisotropy Vickers hardness also calculated, which show that various intrinsic...
The welding of titanium alloys is an important topic in today's industrial field, and the interaction between solder base material crucial for quality welded parts. structural, elastic, electronic, thermal properties Ti-Al-Me (Me = Cu, Fe Ni) (TAMs) with face-centered cubic structures were investigated using plane-wave pseudo potential method framework density functional theory. Based on calculated elastic constants combined empirical semi-empirical formulas, physical including...
The effects of shot peening on microstructure and properties surface layer a TC21 titanium alloy have been studied by transmission electron microscopy, back-scattered diffraction, X-ray diffraction Nano-indentation. results indicated that an elastic-plastic strengthening was formed the after peening. During deformation processing, activated slip systems were found to be in <a>, <c> <a/c> planes with high-density dislocations as networks α phase. After peening, residual...
Three multipass 317L welds were prepared using submerged arc welding (SAW), flux-cored (FCAW) and manual metal (MMA), respectively. A microstructural study was undertaken by trepanning 3 mm discs from specific positions in the weld gap, examining thinned specimens transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It found that, addition to Chi phase precipitation detected regions where overlapping of passes occurred, large heat input for each pass can also induce during cooling pool. The mechanical...
