As a kind of soft smart material, hydrogel actuators have extensive development prospects, but it is still difficult for these to integrate multiresponsiveness, multiple remote actuation, high strength, fast responsiveness, and programmable complex deformation. Herein, we explored an anisotropic bilayer actuator with Fe3O4/co-poly(isopropylacrylamide-4-benzoylphenyl acrylate) [Fe3O4/P(NIPAM-ABP)] active layer isotropic conductive adhesive (ICAs) passive based on the layer-by-layer method....

It has been recognized that purposefully designed surface texturing can contribute to the improvement of tribological performance elements and friction reduction. However, its optimal parameters may depend on operating conditions. This paper investigated effect a triangle-shaped dimples array lubricated point-contacts under different lubrication regimes, based rotational sliding experiment patterned steel disk against smooth balls. The arrays were produced by laser process characterized 3D...

We introduce a design with dual resonant structure which can harvest energy from random vibration sources at low frequency range. The consists of two spring-mass subsystems different responses, exhibit strong coupling and broad bandwidth when the masses collide each other. Experiments piezoelectric elements show that harvesting device generate higher power output than sum separate devices sources.

Twinning is a common deformation mechanism in metals, and twin boundary (TB) segregation of impurities/solutes plays an important role the performances alloys such as thermostability, mobility, even strengthening. The occurrence phenomena generally believed one-layer coverage solutes alternately distributed at extension/compression sites, orderly, continuous manner. However, Mn-free Mn-containing Mg-Nd model systems, we reported unexpected three- five-layered discontinuous patterns coherent...

ABSTRACT Pepper blight, caused by the soilborne pathogen Phytophthora capsici , poses a formidable threat to pepper ( Capsicum annuum ) production. The prevalent use of chemical fungicides for blight management has been associated with adverse environmental consequences. To address drawbacks in agriculture, exploration biological control agents emerged as promising alternative. Here, we identified strain ZAM4‐4 Streptomyces anulatus which demonstrated potent inhibitory effects against P ....

Interfacial segregation is ubiquitous in mulit-component polycrystalline materials and plays a decisive role material properties. So far, the discovered solute patterns at special high-symmetry interfaces are usually located boundary lines or distributed symmetrically boundaries. Here, model Mg–Nd–Mn alloy, we confirm that elastic strain minimization facilitated nonsymmetrical of solutes four types linear tilt grain boundaries (TGBs) to generate ordered interfacial superstructures....

Methylammonium lead iodide, CH3NH3PbI3, is currently a front-runner as light absorber in hybrid solar cells. Despite the high conversion efficiency, stability of CH3NH3PbI3 still major obstacle for commercialization application. In this work, geometry, electronic structure, thermodynamic, and mechanical property pure Cs-doped have been systematically studied by first-principles calculations within framework density functional theory (DFT). Our studies suggest that (CH3NH3)+ organic group...

This article presents a mixed lubrication model for point contacts with considering the inlet starvation and interasperity cavitations. The pressure distribution on entire computational domain is obtained through solving unified Reynolds equation system without identifying hydrodynamic or asperity contact regions. Jacobsson–Floberg–Olsson mass-conservative boundary conditions are incorporated in analysis based Elrod’s algorithm. oil supply condition which may bring about local cavitation...

Z phase is one of the three basic units by which Frank-Kasper (F-K) phases are generally assembled. Compared to other two units, that is, A15 and C15 structures, structure rarely experimentally observed because a relatively large volume ratio among constituents inhibit its formation. Moreover, discovered structures three-dimensional ordered Gibbs bulk conform their thermodynamic stability. Here, we confirmed existence metastable two-dimensional F-K has only unit-cell height in...
