The triple point of water serves to define the kelvin, unit thermodynamic temperature, in International System Units (SI). Furthermore, it is most important fixed Temperature Scale 1990 (ITS-90). Any uncertainty realization contributes directly measurement over wide temperature range from 13.8033 K 1234.93 K. Consultative Committee for Thermometry (CCT) decided at its 21st meeting 2001 carry out a comparison cells and charged BIPM with organization. Water 20 national metrology institutes...

Body temperature is an important parameter in medical practice, and most of health diagnoses are made based upon measured values. Non-contact measurements attractive to both patients physicians, ear thermometers (ET) part the set infrared for applications. ETs sense tympanic membrane which best represents body temperature. They take advantage natural high effective emissivity cavity that formed as radiation source. To calibrate or check performance ETs, we designed a high-emissivity...

The reproducibility of some thermometric fixed points and the accuracy four platinum resistance thermometers (PRTs) were studied. It was found that aluminium (Al), zinc (Zn), tin (Sn), indium (In) gallium (Ga) realized reproducibly within ±0.17 mK; ±0.11 ±0.10 ±0.13 mK ±0.12 mK, respectively. Because actual impurities their concentration in our samples (of 99.9999% or 99.999 99% purity) are unknown, systematic uncertainty due to cannot be estimated. However, any Ga, In, Sn, Zn Al is...

Type K thermocouples are one of the most commonly used temperature sensors in industry. The skills, personnel, and facilities necessary for calibrating type also applicable to calibration other base metal thermocouples, and, a lesser extent, platinum?rhodium alloy thermocouples. Under auspices Inter-american Metrology System (SIM), National Institute Standards Technology (NIST) initiated regional comparison from 100 ?C 1100 ?C, with 11 participating countries. use material above...

The realizations of the fixed points International Temperature Scale 1990 (ITS-90) maintained in Canada and Mexico were compared between -38 °C 420 °C, using a portable fixed-point realization apparatus. In this range, routinely realized defining ITS-90 these countries found to coincide within 0,5 mK.

Main text A collapsed star type S thermocouple intercomparison was performed over the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90) temperature range from 0 °C to 1100 °C. This an Inter-American Metrology System (SIM) regional piloted by National Institute Standards and Technology (NIST). Eleven laboratories (including NIST) participated in intercomparison. Twenty-one thermocouples were constructed calibrated at NIST, which ten served as transfer standards. The identified Cut 1 through...
