ABSTRACT Distinct morphological changes associated with the complex development cycle of obligate intracellular bacterial pathogen Chlamydia trachomatis have been historically well characterized by microscopy. A number temporally regulated genes previously, suggesting that chlamydial developmental is at transcriptional level. This hypothesis was tested microarray analysis in which entire C. genome analyzed, providing a comprehensive assessment global gene regulation throughout cycle. Seven...
In the 19th century, discovery of penicillin revolutionized medicine, saving millions from infectious diseases. People believed that they had won war against infections. However, misuse and abuse antimicrobial agents are accompanied by major ramifications like resistance, creating drug-resistant superbugs. This issue is concerning worldwide, as dwindling effective antibiotics lead to rising healthcare costs, re-hospitalization, disease severity. Consequently, multiple initiatives have been...
Background Despite do-it-yourself automated insulin delivery being an unapproved method of delivery, increasing number people with type 1 diabetes (T1D) worldwide are choosing to use Loop, a system. Objective In this study, we aimed assess glycemic outcomes, safety, and the perceived impact on quality life (QOL) in local Edmonton cohort known Loop users. Methods An observational study adults T1D who used was performed. assessment safety HbA1c, time range, hospital admissions, below range...
Heat pipes (HPs) are very efficient heat exchangers. Experiments were conducted to determine the thermal performances of two sintered each 1780 mm long x 8 OD and 580 10 under power inputs from 30 120 W inclinations −90° +90° horizontal. Results showed that they performed better with evaporator above condenser. Thermal resistances for ranged 0.190 K/W at 0.085 W. For short pipe, resistance was nearly constant 0.105 K/W.
The hemagglutination activity of Chlamydia trachomatis serovar L2 whole elementary bodies (EB) was compared to EB membranes prepared by deoxycholate treatment and infected HeLa cells solubilized in octylglucoside. Differential responses these extracts various erythrocytes, chlamydial antisera, temperature heating indicated that two hemagglutinins are present the outer membrane C. trachomatis. hemagglutinin associated with released octylglucoside is heat-sensitive proteinaceous, while...
