Abstract The Ocean microbiome has a crucial role in Earth’s biogeochemical cycles. During the last decade, global cruises such as Tara Oceans and Malaspina Expedition have expanded our understanding of diversity genetic repertoire marine microbes. Nevertheless, there are still knowledge gaps regarding their patterns throughout depth gradients ranging from surface to deep ocean. Here we present dataset 76 microbial metagenomes (MProfile) picoplankton size fraction (0.2–3.0 µm) collected 11...
Little is known about the direct effects of microplastics (MPs) and their organic additives on marine bacteria, considering role in nutrient cycles, e.g., N-cycles through N 2 -fixation, or microbial food web. To fill this gap knowledge, we exposed specifically diazotrophs, to pure MPs which differ physical properties (e.g., density, hydrophobicity, and/or size), namely, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride polystyrene, most abundant associated fluoranthene,...
Abstract We investigated the effects of increasing seawater temperature and CO 2 concentration based on a high business‐as‐usual climate change scenario by year 2100 photosynthetic performance productivity Mediterranean seagrass Posidonia oceanica alkaline phosphatase N ‐fixing activities microbes associated with different plant parts during winter when plants may be thermally more vulnerable. Our results suggest that elevated benefit overall P. . Despite benefits, magnitude respiration...
Our recent work demonstrates that certain flavoproteins can catalyze the redox activation of Pt(IV) prodrug complexes under light irradiation. Herein, we used site directed mutagenesis on mini Singlet Oxygen Generator (mSOG) to modulate photocatalytic activity this flavoprotein towards two model substrates. Among prepared mutants, Q103V mSOG displayed enhanced catalytic efficiency as a result its longer triplet excited state lifetime. This study shows, for first time, protein engineering...
Abstract The accumulation of microplastics (MPs) pollution at depths suggests the susceptibility benthic organisms ( e.g. seagrasses and their associated macro- micro-organisms) to effects these pollutants. Little is known about direct MPs organic additives on marine bacteria, in one most ecologically significant groups, diazotrophs or N 2 -fixing bacteria. To fill this gap knowledge, we exposed found association with endemic Mediterranean seagrass Posidonia oceanica pure which differ...
Phosphoester hydrolysis is an important chemical step in DNA repair. One archetypal molecular model of phosphoesters para-nitrophenylphosphate (pNPP). It has been shown previously that the presence metal oxide [Mo7O24]6– may catalyse pNPP through partial decomposition polyoxomolybdate framework resulting a [(PO4)2Mo5O15]6– product. Real-time monitoring catalytic system using electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) provided glance into species present reaction mixture. Following up...
