Graphene single layers grown by chemical vapor deposition on crystal Cu substrates are subject to nonuniform physisorption strains that depend the orientation of surface. The revealed in Raman spectra and quantitatively interpreted molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. An average compressive strain order 0.5% is determined graphene Cu(111). In (100), MD simulations interpret observed highly strains.

The high-energy spectroscopic study of the electronic structure fullerenes and their compounds in solid state is reviewed. It shown that photoemission electron energy-loss spectroscopy transmission provide powerful tools for experimental C60, C70 higher fullerenes, as well formed by intercalation with alkali alkaline-earth metals. Topical issues field are addressed, such role played correlation, disorder electron-phonon coupling.

Stringent regulations of the maximum content sulfur in transportation fuels have prompted an intense search for new processes deep desulfurization to complement common catalytic hydrodesulfurization. One alternative under development involves extraction sulfur-containing aromatic compounds (SAs) from diesel fuel and gasoline with ionic liquids (ILs). In these applications, recycling ILs will be highly important, reextraction SAs supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) appears a possible method...

The efficient storage and transportation of natural gas is one the most important enabling technologies for use in energy applications. Adsorption porous systems, which will allow high-density fuel under low pressure, possible solutions. We present discuss extensive grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulation results adsorption methane into slit-shaped graphitic pores various widths (between 7 angstrom 50 angstrom), at pressures P between 0 bar 360 bar. Aqueous solubilities of two- to four-ring solid polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) (naphthalene, anthracene, 1,2-benzanthracene, triphenylene, and p-terphenyl) were measured at temperatures within 313 K the PAH melting point pressures range (4 8) MPa by dynamic method combined with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. A novel feature apparatus was use a capillary restrictor minimize system volume downstream sampling point. The results for naphthalene anthracene compare favorably...

Identification and prevention of Staphylococcus aureus-caused infections may benefit from a fast dependable method to distinguish between the methicillin-resistant (MRSA) methicillin-susceptible (MSSA) S. aureus strains. The current methods involving polymerase chain reaction and/or other molecular tests are usually laborious time-consuming. We describe here low-cost employing capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) MRSA MSSA. makes use supercritical water-treated fused silica capillary, inner...

A semiempirical relationship was developed to correlate solubility of solid polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in pressurized hot water using only pure-component properties. The required properties include cohesive energy density, internal pressure, and relative permittivity (dielectric constant), all at the particular temperature pressure. The origin of diversity in the reported ferroelectric phase transition (Curie) temperatures Tc, KTiOPO4 (KTP) crystals grown from self-fluxes has been studied. A series by top-seeded solution method fluxes different K/P molar ratios and solute concentrations, covering most KTP crystallization field K2O–P2O5–TiO2 ternary system.
