[Fe(btzp)3](ClO4)2 (btzp = 1,2-bis(tetrazol-1-yl)propane) represents the first structurally characterized Fe(II) linear chain compound exhibiting thermal spin crossover. It shows a very gradual transition (T1/2 130 K) which has been followed by magnetic susceptibility measurements and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. The structure solved at 200 100 K single-crystal X-ray analysis. crystallizes in trigonal space group P3c1 with Z 2 units both temperatures. molecular consists of chains running...

[Fe(hyetrz) 3 ](anion) 2 ·3H O [hyetrz=4-(2′-hydroxyethyl)-1,2,4-triazole, anion=3-nitrophenylsulfonate] is a novel linear polynuclear Fe II spin-crossover compound. The low-spin to high-spin transition accompanied by pronounced thermochromic effect occurs at 370 K in very abrupt way. Just before this temperature, the three non-coordinated water molecules are removed. dehydrated form remains stable down ca. 100 K, where it transforms into new form, implying that material shows an apparent...
