Sustainable production of pome fruit crops is dependent upon having virus-free planting materials. The and distribution plants derived from virus- viroid-negative sources necessary not only to control viral diseases but also for sustainable breeding activities, as well the safe movement plant materials across borders. With variable success rates, different in vitro-based techniques, including shoot tip culture, micrografting, thermotherapy, chemotherapy, cryotherapy, have been employed...

A simple and improved aqueous synthetic procedure using flash heating for preparing biocompatible Prussian blue nanoparticles (PBNPs) with the single-crystal-like feature was developed. This method entailed use of citric acid as a chelator to complex ferric ions in precursor an situ capping agent prevent PB formed solution from aggregation. The citrate-coated PBNPs, which can be surface functionalized small molecules, were readily internalized by cells exhibited no detectable cytotoxicity....

We report atomic resolution Z-contrast scanning transmission electron microscopy images that reveal the incorporation of I atoms in form helical chains inside single-walled carbon nanotubes. Density functional calculations and topological considerations provide a consistent interpretation experimental data. Charge transfer between nanotube walls is associated with intercalation.

A new method of preparing CdS nanoparticles inside MCM-41 is described. This makes uses the unique interfacial properties selectively functionalized ordered mesoporous materials to deliver cadmium ions mesopores via an ion-exchange reaction, thereby minimizing uncontrolled precipitation reactions outside mesopores. The general methodology can also be used prepare other sulfide, telluride, and oxide nanoparticles.

The synthesis of single-wall carbon nanotubes by Nd:YAG laser vaporization a graphite/(Ni, Co) target is investigated laser-induced luminescence imaging and spectroscopy Co atoms, C2 C3 molecules, clusters at 1000 °C in flowing 500 Torr Ar. These emission images under typical conditions show that the plume vaporized material segregated confined within vortex ring which maintains ∼1 cm3 volume for several seconds. Using time-resolved spectroscopic imaging, time conversion atomic molecular...

Carrier-free multi-component self-assembled nano-systems have attracted widespread attention owing to their easy preparation, high drug-loading efficiency, and excellent therapeutic efficacy. Herein, MnAs-ICG nanospike was generated by self-assembly of indocyanine green (ICG), manganese ions (Mn2+), arsenate (AsO43-) based on electrostatic coordination interactions, effectively integrating the bimodal imaging ability magnetic resonance (MRI) fluorescence (FL) imaging-guided synergistic...

The atomic structures of two symmetric [001] tilt grain boundaries in yttria‐stabilized cubic‐zirconia, Σ5 (310) and near‐Σ13 (510), are studied by Z ‐contrast scanning transmission electron microscopy. Both composed periodic arrays highly structural units, with a distinct unit for each boundary. Oxygen K ‐edge energy‐loss spectra show that the oxygen coordination is similar between bulk boundary, indicating ions within boundary reside distorted tetrahedral sites. Atomic models proposed...
