Heavy petroleum residues can be used as raw materials in the production of various carbon products, notably isotropic and anisotropic pitches different types coke. The chemical characterization these residues, general, is a challenge that has to addressed order allow adequate optimization processes. In this study, refineries were studied by NMR, FTIR elemental analysis. Optimum parameters determined for NMR analysis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRIFTS), technique usually applied solid...
This study investigated the appropriate methodology required to measure single carbon fibers electrical resistivity. Two- and four-probe methods were evaluated for this measurement. Comparing results filaments of pitch-based PAN-based shows that two-probe method gives acceptable fibers, but much higher deviations from adjusted resistivity (>15%). The small (<1%) both precursors is most suitable measurements fibers. accuracy than all samples tested.
Pitch-based carbon fibers production usually involves three thermal treatments after spinning: stabilization, carbonization, and graphitization.Stabilization is the slowest most costly step in which several phenomena co-occur, such as oxidation, dehydration, condensation, diffusion. This article reports a review of main results physical-chemical processes involved mesophase pitch-based fiber stabilization control parameters' influence on fiber's final properties.
